A very comprehensive and well laid out guidebook
Anytime when I go away on holiday, I nearly always find myself purchasing a relevant DK travel guide and this guide book for Vancouver and Vancouver Island (which is one of a series) explains why they have obtained the lions share of the travel guide market. It is very comprehensive in the amount of detail which it provides and is laid out in a very easy to follow manner. The first section, entitled "top 10 Vancouver and Vancouver Island Highlights," provides a very high level overview of the best things in the city, including Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge and Granville Island. Each of these attractions is then covered is more detail on the following pages. The second section provides much more detailed information on the key attractions and is set out by theme. Within each theme (e.g. Museums and Art Galleries, Parks and Gardens, Restaurants etc), extensive details are provided on a number of must see attractions, with a more brief overview given in respect of any other attractions which are also worth a visit. The third and final section, entitled "Vancouver and Vancouver Island area by area" provides further information on each individual area in Vanvouver, such as the Waterfront, Downtown, Vanvouver Island etc etc, with even more extensive information provided on attractions and places to eat and drink.Overall, the guidebook is very comprehensive and it's not difficult to see why they are so popular.

Not very helpful
I would recommend this for rich tourists looking for a list of restaurants and hotels as that's really all it is. Not helpful.

Where Canada reaches the Pacific...
Canada reaches the Pacific Ocean at the city of Vancouver and nearby Victoria on Vancouver Island. Both cities are user-friendly for visitors and offer a surprising variety of things to see and do. The two cities are linked by air and sea shuttles and, yes, can be combined in a single visit. This new DK Eyewitness Top Ten Guide has the useful details. The top ten highlights of Vancouver and Vancouver Island are right up front. Among these are Vancouver's Stanley Park with its seashore and aquarium, a world-class Anthropology Museum at the University of British Columbia, and the fantastically fun Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Vancouver offers its provincial museum and miles of forest and seacoast to explore. If you are traveling in winter, Vancouver has first class winter sports on offer at nearby Whistler. The guide includes a listing of top tens for topics such as restaurants, museums, First Nation art, entertainment, and bars and clubs, among others. The guide also surveys Vancouver and Victoria for the best places to stay and to eat, and for where to find its ethnic diversity. There are plenty of color photographs and maps to assist in visit planning. Well recommended.
