The best so far.
I own a couple of camera mounts, and this one is by far the best so far. I can understand frustration of some previous reviewers, because this mount does not have quick release as described and pictured. This is misleading and definitely should be fixed. Thanks to those who pointed this out, because I bought it precisely because I wanted screw in type - not quick release.Mout itself if realy good - way better than tiny ones of 4-times more expensive dashcam, GPS or phone holders I own. To keep it simple, this is why I love it:- It's suction cup is big - and size does matter when we talk about holding camera steady. Once attached (to smooth, clean surface) it holds good. When I said good, I mean I set it up, put 15 lbs weight hanging on it for 24 hrs. It held it without hiccup.- It has cogs on all elbows, so once you tighten them up - they don't move.- It's fairly simple, not too many moving parts - less chance something breaks or fails.- Size is just right, not too big, or too small - perfectly paired up with iON.- Price. (yep - check other, similar models)

Didn't Include CamLOCK Fixture
Despite the pictures, the mount didn't come with the CamLOCK fixture. It's a fix screw, which it mentions on the ad and the packaging, but one is led to believe that it also comes with the CamLOCK fixture for quick-release, i.e., from the product description, "The iON Suction Cup Mount Pack provides a mounting system and Cam LOCK to mount any iON camera model onto a variety of smooth surfaces." Mine didn't and the packaging I received shows the mount with only the fix screw fixture. Checking iON's site also shows the mount with a CamLOCK in their picture, but the picture of the packaging is the same as what I received from the seller. This isn't a complaint about the seller, but of the product. I haven't tried using mine yet, as I'm frustrated trying to find if there is actually a CamLOCK fixture for it. No luck finding such on iON's site so far and I need to contact their support about it, before I decide if I want to return it.

High performance an any smooth surface...
If you provide a smooth surface, such as glass or plexiglass, or metal with smooth pain finish - this has a powerful grip. I could not use it on a rough surface such as old paint on old equipment, as the suction cup relies on a smooth surface needed for a air tight grip. This is a great mount. To overcome the rough surface issue in my application, I glued a small piece of plexiglass to the rough painted are. Liquid Nails was used as the adhesive. The mount was then affixed to the smooth plexiglass. A rough surface allows air to leak through the cup and the mount will not create the suction needed. In summary, a great value and good design. On flat glass surface such as a window, you cannot move the mount or make it fail.

very strong suction
This thing works incredibly well. I got it for my kayak. Before it arrived, I wondered if it would handle the slightly curved deck on my kayak - but no problems at all. It locks down easily - very secure. I've gotten some great video from it and take it every trip as standard equipment. I also keep a 'float' on my camera for security, but mostly for the possibility I might drop it. Once the suction is applied, that's it - my camera is truly locked down. You need a small ball head though, as the mount will not easily allow camera motion.

Good mount but no camlock
Great mount but does NOT come with the camlock attachment. Only a standard 1/4" camera mount. This makes it a pain to install and remove the camera very easy. If your like me you don't leave your camera in the car! I ordered the board attachment kit and it has the camlock that will fit this mount also.

It works great on the tank where the surface is flat and ...
I use this to mount the iON camera on my race motorcycle. It works great on the tank where the surface is flat and keeps the camera at a good height to see out of the windscreen. I'd like to use it on the tail section, but it's too curved for the suction cup to work properly.

Great mounts for a great camera.
These mounts are great! I use them ever week and they have not failed me yet. I do recommend cleaning the cup and the area you are suctioning it to prior to mounting. That sounds like common sense, but I forgot it all the time. I have blue case I bought from Staples with a smooth clear lid. I have foam in the case that the cameras rest on and the suction cups affixed to the top of the case.

I would buy it again or recommend it as a good windshield mount.
Make sure you attach it to the flat surface and pull a little bit. That lever needs to be used to assure a good connection. I would buy it again. I like it. It made a trip from Houston to Oregon and back over a lot of different roads, and it only failed when I was in a hurry and didn't attach it securely. My bad, not the products.
