Lighthouse
A retired librarian friend recommended that I read the St. Simons Trilogy when another friend was planning a trip to the Island. Although the trilogy was written out of chronological date order with Lighthouse being written after The Beloved Invader, I read the books in date order and am glad I did. It was good to get to know the characters and watch them evolve. Lighthouse is based on the true story of James Gould, a man who never gives up on his dream to build a lighthouse. As significant as building a lighthouse was to James Gould, for me the significance of his story lay in how he remained a committed staunch believer and never allowed his spirit to be broken as he dealt with numerous unforeseen obstacles, deaths of love ones, disappointment, obligations, and just as I thought things were turning around when he met and fell in love with whom he thought to be the woman of his dreams, he had to deal with betrayal and a broken heart. James also had enough blessings, though, that led him to true love and happiness and right to where he wanted to be. By the time James lit the lights for the first time in that lighthouse, I felt like cheering right along with the crowd of loved ones and friends who'd gathered in his honor. Am glad I had the second and third books in the series, along with St. Simons Memoir, on hand! Could hardly wait to get started on New Moon Rising.

Listed as used and cheaper price, but in excellent condition.
I was very pleased with the book. It looked brand new, especially for a paperback. It arrived very promptly.

Best Christmas Gift
My Mamaw has always told me the story of how her mom, my great grandmother who passed about 6 years ago, read this book. It was one of her favorites! They went on a trip to the island in this book and visited all of the locations mentioned in there too. I personally have never read it, and my Mamaw never had a copy. She almost cried when she saw that I found a copy on Christmas, so well worth it! It was such a sweet moment! 💛 I can’t wait to read it when she’s finished!

A very good read......you learn....and you feel like you are there.
I had heard about Eugenia Price and read a couple of her books. Then I read about this series and was thrilled as I read each book inthe series. Ms. Price keeps your attention and you just do not want to put the books down. The characters are based on people wholived in that time period and in the area. The historical parts made me want to go to St. Simons Island, which my husband and I did.Her writing was so accurate, you felt like you had already been there when you arrived. I think I have most of the books Ms. Price haswritten. The reason I ordered this book from Amazon is because when I went to get my copy it was missing, suppose I had loaned itand it had never been returned. So I was very pleased that you had copies of "Lighthouse" Thank you. Sara Burk

lighthuse history
this was a very hard book to get into. Once I got interested it took a long time before we even got to talking about the lighthouse again Thought it would be about the lighthouse but there was too much detail and drawn out before getting to what I thought was he story the book was about. it was interesting in the end but thought there were too many rabbit trails to get to the meat of the story.

Lighthouse
this book and its writer were recomended by a librarian a number of years ago andI liked it so much that a read every thing Eugenia Price wrote.and then I started buying them and reading them again.I shared them with my Mother and my husband even read a few of them,Then while traveling we found ourselves on St Simons Island. We took a side trip for the day and explored all the places we could find that she had written about, encluding the Lighthouse, the Church and the cemetery and located some of the graves..She was still alive at the time and living there..We made several moves and I lost my collection of her books and in searching for a book last year my grandson showed me how to use the computer to find her books again.I am a native Floridian and found myself spellbound by her books I plan to follow her trail as she travels through Florida and Georgia in the rest of her books as I read them all again.

Fascinating story about real people!!
This set of stories about the Gould family who make up a fascinating part of St. Simon's Island, GA history are hard to put down. I HAD to keep reading late into the nights. I love the island and enjoyed learning about a part of its history. If I could, I too would live out my life there. I suggest you get all books and read them sequentially. You will not want to miss a thing! Reading these wonderfully written stories has enriched my life!

That the people in the books really existed.
I visited St.Simons Island in January. Visited the church, saw the graves and viewed the beautiful countryside, especially the Live Oaks. I can relate to the stories as I read them now.I read them many years ago, but much better this time around.
