Great for RVs
I purchased this with a specific application in mind. We camp in a small RV and often end up in state parks with very limited cell service and certainly no WiFi. We do use Verizon which seems to have the best rural coverage but even with that coverage, streaming movies can be hit and miss in the parks. After doing some research, I came up with this solution for those that use Amazon Prime video. I purchased a used HTC One cell phone. They are dirt cheap used. Doesn't matter which carrier. I only use it with WiFi at home to download all the movies or TV shows I want from Amazon Prime Video. I download them at high quality. Then using the Cable Matters USB C to HDMI adapter I can hook up the HTC phone to my RV TV and get a great picture/sound without having to rely on internet or casting. This solution is perfect and doesn't require a lot of valuable RV space. There are other phones out there that will work, but not all do, so if you try this do some research first.

Update: Works Great
The first Adapter I bought didn't work after 2 minutes of use, so needless to say I was a little upset. However, Cable Matters reached out and sent me a replacement, and it works great. No issues, and a clearer picture than a non-powered cable and way better than Chromecast (no lag, clear picture). I use mine for an old phone that works as a retro gaming device, and I'm impressed with the picture quality and response time. Audio is also an A+ from me. Thank you Cable Matters, after trying 5 different adapters, yours was the best, and a value bargain too.Overall, a good product.

Works as designed
I bought it for my new Galaxy Note 9 so that I can connect directly to a monitor without the use of a DeX Station or Pad. It comes with another usb c power input so that you can charge your phone while using the HDMI output. The only problem is you can't plug in a wireless USB mouse or keyboard or anything. Using this with my Note 9 for Dex capability will be a last resort kind of thing because I also have a DeX Pad which allows me to plug in a wireless USB mouse and keyboard. But the cable itself works great. I already have a bluetooth keyboard so all I really need is a bluetooth mouse and then the cable works just as good as the Dex Pad or Station. So I give it 5 stars because it does what it was designed to do. It just needs a couple of bluetooth devices to get the complete desktop experience. Not a problem for me.

It displays still images fine, just not video
Works very well to mirror the display on my Galaxy S8. Picture and audio works well.An odd note, the USB C connector works well in one direction but not in the other. When it is plugged in right side up, it works perfectly. When it is plugged in upside down, the picture flickers from pink or green to the image every couple seconds and the sound is not usable. It displays still images fine, just not video. Seeing that it works perfectly in the other direction, I can't determine whether this is caused by my phone or not.

This works: 4K @ 60Hz
Works well with Lenovo X1 Carbon (6th Gen)- Laptop HDMI native port only supports 4K @ 30Hz- Laptop Thunderbolt port with this device: 4K @ 60HzMonitor: Samsung 4K TVTook me ages to find this device on Amazon. Most similar devices only support 4K @ 30Hz (which would make it pointless because you could just use the HDMI port on the laptop)Choosing this option made it possible to fist display on TV/monitor only. Something that wasn't possible with the laptop HMDI port.Had to manually configure screen resolution in Windows 10...because it didn't seem to want to work it out for itself. Also had to configure Samsung TV to use "PC mode" in order to get clear text in documents. Without doing this the text looked blured.

Bought and returned
Bought and returned. Did not work with my Dell XPS 13 9310. Probably wasn't powerful enough. Bought a similar unit with 100w capability.

Works great with Galaxy S21, but low res for Galaxy S8 & 9
I bought this hoping to use my previous cell phone (a Samsung Galaxy S9) as a video camera for 1080 streaming. I could never get anything but 640x480 out of it even though I tried all available output resolutions on the phone and multiple HDMI cables. I tried a Galaxy S8 with the same results.I finally read a review that suggested they had had no luck getting more than 640x480 with these models so i tried my current Galaxy S21 and it worked great. I must admit I'm very pleased with the picture with the S21 - however as it is my daily use phone, I can't use it as my primary streaming camera and so this adapter won't be useful to me until I replace my S21 with something new.I have really had good experiences with Cable Matters products, and this is a 5-star unit for the S21, but a 3-star unit overall for me as I don't know how long it will be until I have a S21 lying around to use as my secondary streaming camera. The power delivery charge through the onboard charging port *does* work and I was happy with that!
