International Concepts Unfinished Vanity Bench, Unfinished

I ordered the unstained wood, expecting something I'd have to finish. What arrived blew me away. First, it was packaged better than any furniture I've ever bought. There was not a scratch or nick anywhere. Second, the wood was beautifully finished, satin-smooth, and could be used just as is, with no stain or finish. I do not exaggerate when I say I have never received a piece of inexpensive furniture that was so well made. THe grain on the rubberwood is really beautiful. The construction is very solid--no structural shortcuts-- and the only assembly needed is to put on the legs.I needed to alter the top and so had to take it off and open it up, so I got to see how the top was made The support for the seat is a piece of thick plywood, not fiberboard or other cheap material. It is well padded, and the microfiber fabric has a strong backing. It's light taupe, not grey like it looks in the picture. If you need to take off the top to change the fabric, you just remove four long screws, and the fabric can staple on so that the frame covers the staples.I can't honestly imagine better quality at any price. A rare pleasure, in a world filled with crappy cheap furniture.Perfect size for cats to curl up on in front of the window :-)

I bought this vanity bench thinking that I would paint the "unfinished" wood portion of the bench but when I got it I loved the appearance of the "unfishished" wood. It matches the "barn door" and cabinets my husband built for our newly renovated master bathroom perfectly. I also planned on reupholstering the seat cushion but again was pleasantly surprised that the neutral color would work fine as is. I may decide to add some fun color in the future but it's not at all necessary. The bench is nice and sturdy but I did pick up a tip from another reviewer ... it comes with an allenwrench to retighten as needed and per the other reviewers suggestion, I taped it to the underside of the bench so it's at my finger tips when I need it. My only "minor" disappointment is the height, I had a hard time finding a taller vanity stool/bench and I wish this was an inch or two taller but overall I'm very happy with my purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

This is the third unfinished piece I've purchased from this company. They really are 100% solid hardwood, there is zero particle board used in any of their stuff that I've seen. Rubberwood seems to react similarly to maple as far as stain and treatments goes.I will say, I did NOT sand any of these pieces before finishing... if I had it to do over, I would. There's small imperfections that could have been avoided had I taken the time to do additional sanding. I will also say this stool needed sanding much more than the other pieces, I purchased a 'used' stool (probably open box/return) by the way.The entire cushion is pretty cheap, even re-covering won't fix the fact that it's pretty hard on ya booty.I'm using this stool for my piano, it is a good height for me (I'm 6'4").

This was super easy to put together and I even recovered the padded seat with a different fabric that better suited my needs. All I used was a staple gun. I haven’t decided what color I want to paint it yet, so it is still just its own beautiful wood, which is smooth and nice.I love stools like this. They are a great way to add seating at a larger than normal dinner gatherings or as space-saving desk “chairs” where needed. This one is being used as the “chair” for the desk my husband uses in our bedroom. Because it doesn’t have a back, it creates no visual clutter, which allows the beauty of the desk to shine.I also carry the stool into our bathroom for use when I’m lotioning my legs or giving myself a pedicure. My husband uses it when he puts on his shoes, instead of sitting on the bed, which usually has pet hair all over it.This sturdy thing has already earned its price in all the ways we have put it to use! I’m thinking about ordering another one as an extra seat for my studio.

We're using this in front of the tub in our master bath. The gel stain did not come out as dark as I wanted but I think it still looks nice. I covered it with a heavy duty interior fabric which was pretty easy. But, once I began to assemble one of the wholes to attach the cushion was stripped. I was able to tighten the other 3 screws well and added super glue around the one whole to prevent any future shifting. Assembly is easy to figure out without instructions as well. All the parts were there.

I wanted two small benches with a Southwestern print but couldn't find anything that would work. So we ordered these two unfinished stools, sprayed them a rusty/burnt orange and re-upholstered the tops in a pretty print. We've gotten lots of compliments on them and the Shaker design matches our console table perfectly.

We are extremely happy with this item. Very sturdy and well made. We purchased it to go with a computer desk we currently have with the intent to stain it to match. The bench is very well made with real wood throughout, no particle board or pressed board pieces. The pieces are solid, no glueing or piecemealing. It took stain very well. No splotchy unevenness. Great item!

This unfinished vanity bench from International Concepts is of outstanding quality! Attractive, sturdy, easy to assemble, and comfortable. (The upholstery can be easily changed to fit your decor). I especially like that I can finish the bench myself to coordinate with the small antique secretary desk I plan to use it with. It is a great little bench that would be useful just about anywhere in your home. Better quality than what you would find at a furniture store - and at a fraction of the price. Highly recommended!
