What are the dimensions on the shoe? I need a 1in. 1 1/4 is too long.

I just bought this and didn't realise the shoe/thread size. It was big. I measured it be 1.75" dia. I too need a 1 1/2 inch dia. Do they have a product for me? It ain't easy search. I will go to HD or Lowes to check it out. I need brushed nickel/satin/stainless.

Will this work on a 1980's Kohler waste and overflow?

This is Coarse Thread 1-1/2" - 11.5 TPI Strainer - so you will need to verify if the shoe in your tub matches these threads - there are some tubs that also use a Fine Thread 1-1/4" - 16 TPI Shoe - and this won't fit those. I'm not sure but most stoppers are standard size.

How big is the thread

The drain diameter is approximately 2 inches. If you're needing thread pitch or something else technical, I would have no idea.
