I liked it and it looks promising
It arrived on time the quality was good on the front and back cover I was excited to get this manga and im very happy for sophie chan but there were some problems i dont mean to be rude but i noticed some errors within the book printing wise and art wise but i tried to avoid that and kept reading but heres what i noticed and you probadly heard many people say this:1.one of the errors i noticed was that the words and artwork were too close to the binding of the page that i had too spread the book open to read... 2. i felt that the story and panel pacing was too fast but its just my opinion 3.the art is good and adorable and some felt like it was rushed and the clothes and folds the characters seem stiff and it feels like there wearing cardboards im not trying to be mean cause ive been there and had many problems with my drawings and i still do know lolagain im sorry i dont mean to be rude or mean cause everyone has to improve right but overall the manga was nice and refreashing the story was good i dont regret reading this manga cause its promising and shows her hardwork and effort into this manga im very happy for sophie to achieve her dreams and inspire me and many others to follow there dreams ill be looking forward to reading volume 2 whenever it comes out

Beautiful Art and Incredible Imagination
I was so happy to hear that this book was finally available on Amazon. If you have ever watched any of Sophia-Chan's videos, you should be familiar with how beautiful her art style is. This manga is a fairly short read, comprised of four chapters and the whole thing taking me only about 45 minutes to read. (Although I am certainly going to go back to admire all of the artwork). I thought the story plot was unique and very interesting, but some part seemed a little rushed. Sophie-chan makes the character designs and backgrounds just as marvelous as her characters.I suppose the two things i didn't like were 1) The chibis didn't really seem to fit the story that much (but that is only my opinion) and 2) the two page spreads had the images go into the crevice of the pages, so we aren't able to see the whole image. I'm sure this last issue would't be an issue in e-book format. This is Sophie-chan's story that she has worked on in the past year or so, but the imagination of all aspects show that many years of creativity in world building, character creating, and story making went into this work.I'm so glad to add this manga to my comic collection and I already can't wait for book 2.

and I have great confidence in her to increase the quality of her ...
I greatly admire Sophie-chan's story making skills, and I believe her artwork is incredible for someone drawing as much as she had. That being said, this manga is only one step away from being truly professional in quality. There are pages that lack said quality, most likely because of time constraints. For example, the anatomy in some battle scenes simply don't make sense or that she decides to draw figures in profile to avoid drawing the bodies in perspective. This gravely reduces the potential for showing movement in the composition. But thankfully there are not too many of these scenes. Therefore I highly encourage Sophie-chan to practice, and I have great confidence in her to increase the quality of her work in the next volume, which I will most likely purchase.

Awesome first go!
Where to begin? It's a really good book.Good characters, great artwork and a very good premise.I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading the next volume. For a first story, this is really well executed.Really impressive. The print seemed to be a little off, as the art and some dialogue was lost in the gutter of the centerfold.Aside from that, a really good book, and I recommend it!

Fantastic Story, Beautiful Artwork to Match
All in all, this is an excellent book. The artwork contained in these pages is absolutely phenomenal; the story is easy to understand, but complicated and endearing in its own way. The author has a talent for creating characters that her readers can and will love. The journey of Moria, Lia, and Albert was one of the most original, creative, and exciting stories I have read in a long time, and paired with the incredible artwork, this has indescribable potential. I can't imagine how wonderful Volume Two will be, and I will certainly be enjoying this series as it progresses. :)

Dedicated Fan
I purchased this book when it first came out and I loved it. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed that one of the best pictures was cut off in the middle and I wasn't sure what happened at the end; was that Albert?Anyway, for a first time publisher is was great; being an aspiring graphic novelist myself, it's nice to see that kind of work displayed and I look forward to your next one.

I love it! It had a very good plot
I love it! It had a very good plot, it was interesting and quite unique. And I adore Sophie's artwork style, its very beautiful. Although the panels got cut off near the middle/center. And when I got the book I found a little mark through one of the panels although it doesn't brother me in the least.

Ocean of Secrets Vol 1 was ok but not great. It's a story about a girl named Lia ...
Ocean of Secrets Vol 1 was ok but not great. It's a story about a girl named Lia who falls out of a boat on the stormy seas and is rescued by two magical sailors, Moria and Al, who are on the run after Al was framed for killing the land's queen and kidnapping its princess. The art was nice, and the concept for the story was imaginative and original, and I loved the random adorable cat that was in it. However, even though the individual art panels were good there was clearly little consideration put into the way that they were constructed across the page, and it was often confusing what order I was supposed to read them in, especially when there were often long panels one-side of the page which were sometimes intended to be read as one sequence and sometimes intended to be read taking a break for the lower line on the other side. The characters were also very poorly explored, and while development was attempted, I still didn't feel like I actually knew any of them by the end of the volume since the whole story was effectively told from Lia's perspective, and all of the time they spent getting to know each other is glossed over in favour of short diary entries about how they are becoming a family (has the writer never heard of "show, don't tell"?). Speaking of Lia, her adoptive sister gets completely forgotten about after Lia falls off the boat, and Lia doesn't even mention her or suggest that Moria and her brother try to rescue her, even though she was abandoned on a small boat in a stormy sea. How am I supposed to relate to/care about a protagonist who forgets about their little sister and doesn't even try to see if she's ok or even still alive? The plot twist regarding Lia's true identity was pretty easy to see coming, and while the art is mostly really good, there is one panel in which the king's eyes look bizarrely droopy, and another in which Moria has one enormous thumb. The story also somehow managed to feel both boring and rushed at the same time, and I think that was because the first conflict happened in-universe months after Lia was rescued, but we still hadn't gotten to know any of the characters as a reader. It would have made a lot more sense to set the attack earlier on and use that as the scenario by which the characters came to trust one another, then show their development together and actually explore their personalities. In conclusion, then: The art is good apart from when it isn't, panels are poorly constructed, characters are given no exploration, the story is predictable, the conclusion anticlimactic, and too much time is wasted on infodumping. Ocean of Secrets Vol 1 was a good idea very poorly executed.

I finally bought a copy. So excited!!
I have been very excited about this book. I finally bought a copy of it.The story revolves around Lia as she almost drowns and then discovers a very unfamiliar world, a world she never knew existed. The manga definately stands out as it successfully connects a world of magic with the real world and gives suitable reason acting as the bridge. The artwork is very detailed and character designs are awesome. However I personally felt at certain points that the story was a bit rushed but then again it's only the first volume and I am sure we will be given plenty more insight and information of the plot in the near future. Also at a few panels the artwork seemed a little static. I am excited about the volume 2 of this book. As someone who has never been to artschool the artwork of the book is nothing short of a professional manga I would definitely recommend buying this. It's totally worth it.
