I just received this toy. It is not moving but it does bark and cry. Is it suppose to actually move?

In case anyone else runs into this problem: my dog bounced the toy down the stairs a couple times. It kept making noise, but stopped moving. I took off the skin and found that the two halves of the ball had twisted out of place. When I realigned them so that the protective walls around the on/off switch were again in the right place, the problem was solved and the toy worked as intended.

Why do I have to spend 20 minutes to figure out what this product is all about ? I give up at this point

This is actually (the skin) of a dog toy. The call inside makes all kinds of noises and shakes. My pup loves it so much that I have had to replace the body (skin) and ball. The ball diedcause it was left outside in a heavy rain. You should be able to find the complete toy (we call it mousey). My Pomeranian loves it. Favorite for years.

does it work on carpet or only on hardwood/tile floors?

It works fine both on carpet and hardwood/tile floors.

How do I change batteries? Can’t open plastic lid

You have to unscrew the small screw (Philips head if I recall correctly) that is placed at the center of the tab that "opens" the battery compartment after opening the ball.
