Ready for the Revolution!
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwow! the process of turning my barren sandbox into a riotous wonderland of greenery has required innumerable yards of chips, carried from front to back one five-gallon bucket at a time. was recently snookered by an arborist who, instead of delivering 28 yards of chips, dumped 28 yards of shredded palm leaves, with nary a chip in sight. when I saw the pile, I could not believe mine eyes...carrying this mass to the back of the house in five gallon buckets would not be an option, so I decided to spread the load over the sand in front of the house, and figured I'd cover it all with chips at a later date. over time, this batch would turn into a nice mulch, and in the meantime all of those palm leaves would help keep weeds down. but as I began trying to spread the pile, I realized the task would be much more difficult than it had originally seemed.I spent days trying to make a dent in that mountain, but things were NOT moving along nicely. it took an immense amount of effort to push my little pitchfork (which I discovered is actually a spading fork) into the pile, or to drag bits out of the pile with my tiny rake. started looking at larger tools and finally decided on this monster ensilage fork. so glad I did!this pitchfork is more than twice as big as my spading fork. there are ten tines rather than four, and the tines are extremely thin but strong. it slices into the pile like a hot knife cutting butter. when I first took it out of the box it seemed very heavy, but that feeling passed quickly. it's actually fairly lightweight for its size, but it's huge. and it moves SO much more material (so much more quickly) than the other tools! this pile is still a big job, but it no longer seems as though it will never end. especially since I'm bringing in some muscle, this week.the welding on this pitchfork was done beautifully. the wooden handle seems rock solid. the handle offers total control. the ends of the tines are coated with some kind of rubber or plastic, but that isn't interfering with its ability to cut straight through a dense pile of vegetation none of my other tools could penetrate. and if that coating wears off, who cares. I'm certain the jobs will be no more difficult if the tines are nekkid.if I could give it 100 stars, I would! this ensilage fork will have a place in my tool shed and in my heart for many years to come.

Effective for turning heavy compost piles
It is strong despite the extra long tines. I use it for turning compost piles.

Fantastic garden tool!
Holy moly this thing is awesome! Definitely my new favorite tool in the garden. I’ve been using various shovels pitchforks and other tools to move piles of arborist mulch in my garden and this ensilage fork is like twice the width of anything I’ve ever seen before and moves an incredible amount of material with just one scoop. It’s like comparing a regular flat head shovel to a snow shovel. The D-handle is perfect length for me and gives a great grip to move material; I did have to smooth out a small sharp burr on the plastic handle casting but it was a quick task and now it’s super comfy. Definitely recommend this tool for moving loose stuff like mulch.

Decent Value for the $
I used the spading fork to dig up day lilies and irises that had not been thinned in several years. In the process I caught the edge of a tree root and the outer tine bent out on one side. Having them all flush would be better but it still works

Holding up well
I have put this spading fork to good use over the past few months, and it is showing no signs of wear or rust. While I wouldn't consider it light-weight for all the bigger it is, I can manage it easily, and I would think if it were actually light it could not also be sturdy.

Great fork for turning my compost.
Really like this fork. Seller had somehow messed up with shipping and item wasn't delivered when tracking said it was. Contacted them and got immediate response with apologies. Got the fork a bit later than planned, but the quality is great and customer service was good too.

Have Fork, Will Transplant!
I absolutely love my new fork! I ordered this to help me with transplanting daffodils that grow all over my yard at will, and to work with the compost pile. It shipped quickly and arrived in an oversized box. The weight is good. It's light enough not to weary my arms, but heavy enough that I'm not afraid to break it. The height is also comfortable to work with. So far, so good. I have stepped on it with my full weight (even jumped on it to dig deeper 😌) without a problem. It has also stood up well to hitting a few rocks. I think it will last several years more. Glad I bought it 100%.

Best Shovel For Mulching
It is perfect for picking up and spreading mulch. It can pick up a lot and the prongs are close enough that it can lift a lot of material without falling through the prongs. You can also use this pitch fork to spread out evenly after it is on the ground. Slightly expensive.

Stupid expensive and WORTH IT
I've now received 8-10 tractor trailer loads of wood chips at my property. I own 5 pitch forks ranging in cost from $50 upwards. This is hands down the best. It has more tines, the spacing between each tine seems perfect, the shorter handle and D-end are great for power lifting a forkful of chips. I have some models with a straight handle (no D) and the handle is longer and they're good for spreading but nothing beats this for getting up close and personal with a pile of wood chips and shifting it in a hurry. When you're paying people hourly to work alongside you, the added efficiency you get from this model means that it pays for itself in a hurry.
