Got the wider version. Pad is good. The buckles have rubber coating. Can still operate the latch. Measure your truck. i bought two for our big truck, and I'm pleased with the product

I use for a long heavy ladder to protect my truck.
I have a 5'6" truck bed and a 6'5 HEAVY aluminum ladder. I didn't want the ladder to damage my truck tailgate while driving. The padding on this is super thick. It goes on easy on days I need the ladder and back off in a matter of seconds. I also love the rubber casing around the strap clamps so i don't scratch anything. I couldn't be happier.

Do not recommend.
The lock does not hold the line at all. I almost had my long board flew away from my track, plus it did scratch my board. So buy at your own risk.
