The Sea Lion's Friend (Shankman & O'Neill)

My three year old daughter has a stuffed sea lion she is infatuated with so I bought this book to tie into her favorite animal, and I'm so glad I did. The whole book rhythms (a big plus in our family), has fun pictures (my daughter laughed many times), and tells a nice story about friendship. It is a long book and may be too long for some little ones, but mine really liked it and didn't mind sitting through the whole thing. I think this will be a crowd favorite for many years to come and I look forward to having conversations about friendship (giving, acceptance) that stems from this book.

My two-year-old is obsessed with sea lions, and everything about this book is terrific - the rhyming story is fun to read (over and over...... and over, and over.......), the illustrations look like they’re from a movie, and the message of being friends with those different than you is important for everyone. We love this book!!

Good book to interest child in beach and ocean animals

My sister in law is a marine biologist and LOVED this book, which was a gift for my nephew. The illustration is adorable and the etory is heart warming!

Super cute book, purchased for 8 yr old nephew, has rhyming sentences like a Dr Suess book.. he enjoyed it

We have ALL Shankman & O'neill books, love them all. This one has a great message on the value of true friendship.

It is not a fun story to read. Not much that it is teacher either. Didn’t like it at all.

We bought this book for our 2yo and it is extremely wordy! She loves sea lions and birds and thought this would be a great book for her. We might have to wait a year or so. Lovely drawings though!
