First of all, I like the style. It is attractive and made of heavy material.That said, those who desire a tamping tool will be disappointed. You can only tamp an overfilled basket with this. The design only goes a certain distance into the basket and that depth is right where you’d find a normal amount of coffee. Even slightly overfilling won’t get any pressure on the grind...But...That is perfect for a 58mm pressurized portafilter. It will level (evenly distribute) the grind without any actual pressure on it. It is exactly what a pressurized portafilter calls for. This will not fit most Saeco/Starbuck’s machines. I bought it for my Sirena (a rare and much maligned Starbuck’s product that took a lot of experimentation to get right). It will also fit Breville and several other espresso makers, but make certain they are 58mm and PRESSURIZED.It will also work on a non-pressurized basket if you over-fill it, but the result will be an under/unevenly saturated grind, bad coffee, and will (likely) cause problems with your machine.I really like it for what it looks like, will do, and the price. It’s perfect for me. Your mileage may carry.

This is a very solid tamper. I only have 3 other tampers and none is as heavy as the Flexion. The downside to this tamper is that although the description says that it is a flat bottom that is a bit misleading. The 58 mm portion is indeed flat, but the entire base is not 58 mm. The portion immediately below the shaft/handle is larger so that it does not fit down into the filter basket. The bottom portion is approximately 6 mm lower than the top portion of the base. This gives you a perfectly flat perfectly level tamp, but does not allow much pressure on the tamp unless you overfill the filter basket. If you struggle to get an even tamp this is an awesome tamper. If you want to control the pressure with which you tamp this may not be the tamper for you.

Mine came damaged. I wouldn’t want to use this as it might scratch a line in my basket.

Just received this tamper today (ordered two days ago so shipping was right on time) but it's not exactly what's advertised in the picture. I went for the wooden handle since it appeared to not have that secondary metal rim present on the colored handle options. Looks great, and is nice and heavy, but the tamping surface is slightly convex, not flat like the item description implies. In addition, there are no concentric ridges on the tamping surface as shown in the picture. It's smooth...and convex. Might not be an issue for some but I was expecting a flat, ridged surface. The diameter is a hair under 58mm but works well for my Gaggia Classic portafilter.

A really nice tamper to get started. It's a little too tall for my hands, but it works and it's easy to get to ~30lbs or whatever pressure you need. Super smooth surface, coffee grounds never stick to it. The only real "con" is that you can unscrew the top of it.. which is a bit annoying, but not a huge deal.

I return it because I was not happy with the amount of coffee it allow to press. The neck is fix so you have to know how much coffee to place on the basket. It is flat so it does not have a way to spread the coffee. The item however feels very solid and well machined.

True to size, surprisingly hefty and well built. The chrome finish isn’t perfect on the base, but it is a minor issue. At this price I’m giving it 5 stars.

I purchased this coffee tamper, which claims to have a base diameter of 58mm, and found out it was quite loose when inserted in my 58mm filters. I went on to measure it using an accurate caliper, which confirmed that it is actually a bit less than 57.5mm. I wouldn't mind if it was 57.9mm, but it's too loose.That 0.5mm is a lot of raw material saved by the manufacturer and a bad fit for my filters, hence, I have returned this item and would recommend it to other customers.

Never could figure what 30 lbs of pressure felt like when tamping the espresso. Using this the coffee runs nicely and tastes great.

The top of the handle had a defect probably as a result of manufacturing as there is quite a deep cavity in the side of the chrome handle. I decided not to return it as the device does what it is intended to do. An inspection of it prior to sending would have prevented it from being sent.

It fits and works well.
