AvanaGel-Infused Memory Foam Back Wedge with Cooling Tencel Cover, 8”

I have suffered from acid reflux for many years and sleeping at night has been increasingly difficult for me. In the past, I propped my head on pillows or slept sitting upright against the bed's headboard to keep stomach acid from moving into my esophagus. That is until I decided to purchase a wedge pillow. My father, who also suffers from acid reflux, purchased a wedge pillow which I tried out and didn't like. It was not comfortable to sleep on and was not firm enough to keep my head elevated for an entire night. I was fortunate to discover the Avana Back Wedge Pillow when searching online. It has the necessary height (8"), firmness, and construction that I needed. The pictures of the pillow online do not do it justice. As soon as I opened the box and saw it "expand" from the casing (it is vacuum packed), I was elated. I like it so much that I use it for reading at night as well as for sleeping. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and have yet to experience acid reflux while sleeping on it (of course, it does not cure the source of the acid reflux but keeps the stomach acid in the stomach where it belongs). It was not difficult to adjust to sleeping with the head elevated because the pillow is so comfortable. I highly recommend this product to anyone needing to control acid reflux when sleeping.

I liked this pillow I ordered the 12 inch with bamboo cover. It’s nice because it will be easy to wash. The pillow is very comfortable and is helping me sleep better. I can only sleep on my back and I’m pregnant with severe heartburn I used to sleep with a bunch of pillows and was very uncomfortable. I’d constantly wake up through the night. I still wake up but not as much and not to readjust my pillows. This has helped me sleep better and I’m glad I purchased. I would recommend this to anyone needing a comfortable high quality pillow not just for heartburn sufferers but anyone who wants to sit up. Will be using this for many years, so glad I spent the money and got the pillow.

Very good quality pillow which looks nice and does not have any foam odor.It ships in a compact vacuum sealed bag and fluffs up perfectly.It lost the 5th star from me only because getting it out of the cloth shipping bag is super annoying. I was pleased enough with this pillow to place an order for the leg rest as well. Both times I have broken a fingernail trying to pull it out of the cloth shipping bag. The shipping bag is nice but I wish they would just use something disposable you can rip open and throw away. It is not like you would ever be able to put the pillow back in the bag again.

I've been up at night for weeks now with acid reflux issues and in desperation finally decided to try one of these wedge shaped pillows. It seemed like a better solution than making my husband sleep at an angle by raising the head of the bed up several inches. While this pillow is comfortable, being a side sleeper, I've had to take it in segments. I made it through a couple hours the first night but my back was uncomfortable. That may be because I have back issues and nothing to do with the pillow itself. I've not made it through the night yet (5 nights so far) but every night I am able to sleep more soundly and longer and it does resolve the reflux issues.

This item is exactly as pictured. The cover is made well & very soft quilted top. I'm 5'7 & the pillow length goes from my waist to 2" above my head. Plenty in width to support while watching TV or reading. It's very firm foam. It helps breathing a lot. With a small pillow or neck roll I might suggest the 10" in. Wedge for most people with breathing problems, I'm Athasmatic and tired of sleeping in a recliner. It's hard to know which to buy if you've never had one before. The quality is excellent but even for me the 10" wedge would have been better if you want to use an additional pillow on this on the 12" wedge. It's somewhat heavy and does not shift in the night. I’m giving this product 3 stars only because the materials seem like they’re high quality and it is as advertised. Unfortunately it is terribly uncomfortable to use. I am 8 mo pregnant and ordered this to ease my acid reflux/GERD. Although it technically works in that respect, it bends you in a weird place and forces all the pressure down into your hips. The result is pretty awful back and pelvic pain and it is impossible to really fall asleep on as a result. I don’t know if it’s because I’m short (5’1”) or what, but I can’t use it and am back to the drawing board to find a solution that allows me to sleep without waking up choking. The advertised image of the woman sleeping on this pillow looks so comfortable, but sadly that’s not the reality.

This pillow wedge is exactly what I have been looking for, as I like to watch TV in bed, so I was looking for a durable and comfortable wedge that would accommodate myself, and I wouldn't just sink in to it. This is just what I was looking for, I had a pillow like this many years ago when I was a child with asthma, and I had to sleep at an incline to aid my breathing. I remember how comfortable I was, and how watching TV when I was sick was a real pleasure using this pillow. Well I still at 51 suffer from asthma, not as bad as when I was a child, but it can get that way, and using this pillow is a pleasure. It's comfortable, firm, and cool to lay on. i don't sink into it, and its not mushy. Just what the Doctor ordered!!!

Bought this for acid reflux as claimed. After ten minutes I was getting back pain and I do not even have back issues. Maybe these are not made for shorter individuals. I am 5’3”.

Excellent quality and ideal for acid reflux and bronchitis/asthma. A little too expensive though, even if much better than the average.

I was recommended by my GI doctor to sleep at 30 degree angle to help with my acid reflux at night. It was easier to get this than the reclining bed. The height is just perfect. Giving it 4 stars just because I slip and wake up lower than when I slept in.

I purchased the Avana Back Wedge after suffering a fall during a mountaineering accident which left me with multiple facial fractures, a broken arm, a broken rib, and other injuries. My aim was to keep my head comfortably elevated while sleeping to prevent swelling of my facial injuries. I originally tried using a pile of pillows and blankets, which proved to be uncomfortable and aggravated the injuries to my torso. I found the Avana Back Wedge to be a huge improvement. I use it with one pillow on top of it. Bonus - My spouse has reported an unanticipated side benefit - I haven't snored while sleeping since using the Avana Back Wedge :) Unfortunately after 5 months of use the top portion of the wedge cover has some holes in it. The bottom portion of the cover is very durable, whereas the top needs to be improved for this product to last.

This pillow worked wonderfully for the 18 nights we had it. It was very comfortable and the 8" one worked better than 12" pillows we've had in the past. The comfortable top was great. We had the pillow delivered by amazon.ca to our hotel in Montreal and it was waiting when we arrived to begin a cruise to England. The pillow cost less than the USD $90 that British Airways would charge to bring it back to the USA as baggage, so it is comforting somebody in a London homeless shelter while we look forward to the new one we have ordered from amazon.com. Definitely worth the price!

I was skeptical when I first saw the packaging (it comes tightly compressed in a bag) but after using it for a couple of days, I love this product. After my breast reduction, I found it painful to sleep on my back/side/stomach so I had to sleep elevated. I tried sleeping with 2-3 elevated pillows but I didn’t get a lot of sleep and would always wake up with a sore neck and sore shoulders. I have been using this pillow for 3 days and my sleep has improved immensely.It is pretty soft for a wedge pillow but you’ll probably still want to use a flat pillow on the very top for your head. I am 5’4 and I like the inclination (which is about 8 inches), but I am not sure if it would be uncomfortable for those who are much taller or much shorter.The one con is the price. After tax it came to about $70 which seems too expensive to me. The only reason I bought this is because there didn’t seem to be many other good Canadian options and I was desperate. If the price was lowered $15 to $20 it would’ve gotten 5 stars.
