Melbourne by night
This book raises challenging questions about the legal system ,the training of police, the responsibity of people to respect and care for vulnerable humans in sexual matters, the sexualisation of society and the deficiencies in the sporting world and families to educate young men in respecting women in particular and society in general.it could be an excellent book for discussion by senior students in schools. On a superficial level it is an interesting story about how young women and men both act as sexual predators in melbourne

An insightful look behind the scenes of AFL and NFL
It's another string to the bow of the anti football league because of the misogynistic attitude of the league's participants including players and officials towards women as playthings or trophys. Some players' almost tribal involvement in group sex as a rite of passage or a group bonding session is extremely abhorrent. Hopefully, signs are there that this attitude may be changing on the surface.

Thoughtful, powerful examination of the boys club in sports
Anna Krien's Night Games takes a refreshingly non-polemic view of the abuse of women by sportsmen. Her careful exploration of the issues and events surrounding just a few of the myriad sports sex scandals of the last few years opens this can of worms up to the light of day. There are no winners in these sordid mismatches.

I am amazed about the complicity in how sexual acts are covered ...
I found this book, insightful, confronting and challenging to read. The author told the story by supported facts which was quite confronting. It was not a book based on opinions.I am amazed about the complicity in how sexual acts are covered up by the AFL. It was a real eye opener for me and I am glad I now have more awareness of the challenges of dealing with sex, power and sport.

couldn't put it down
I'm not a fan of football, or sport in general if I'm honest, but this book had me in its grip from the opening. Extremely well written and structured. Thought provoking, the themes explored will be resonating for a while.

viewing the underbelly of sport
This book is a thorough and disturbing account of a culture and attitude that exists throughout sport. Outlining the behaviour and responses to poor , no criminal behaviour of some football codes towards women, Krien poses questions regarding community responses to sexualisation and abuse of women. The notion women are often 'up for it' or are 'asking for it' seems to be a common approach from players, club officials and the Redon

This book should be on the school curriculum
I couldn't stop thinking about this book, and how awful the culture of male bonding can be when there is the powerful mix of adulation, money, a lack of great role models, and a sense of entitlement. Add to this a lack of female participation and influence, and you have the potential for a truly awful culture. This book is enlightening and fascinating, if a little depressing. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

A daunting but recommended read
Disturbing. Captures the duplicitous nature of many views prevalent in our society. Highlights the different set of rules some seem to have compared with the majority. Recommended read. But those who should won't.

A perfect insight into 'lad' culture
An outstanding read and insight into the wild world of professional sporting clubs culture. Especially relevant being a Australian Football fan, however the insights that the book provides can be used throughout any professional sport. I have already recommended to many of friends and bought as presents for others.

Excellent, enlightening & thought provoking!
Very well written book, the writers honesty over the ambiguity that was present in her mind was refreshing. Sporting idols are often elevated to "untouchable" status and this raises interesting questions about society as a whole.
