Q: What is the rise knob suppose to do? I hear no sound change at all no matter where the setting is. Is my pedal defective? Anyone with this issue?

The rise knob when turned on will ease the effect in. If you want an instantaneous effect, turn it off. (Hard left)

Q: Is this essentially a mod core, or does it work similarly to one?

I really like this pedal because it is like an old school vibrato pedal. Works well. No...it is not a mod core pedal.

Q: Does this require a special power supply?

It runs on any typical 9V pedal power supply. It does not draw a large amount of current so you can use a one spot daisy chain for it just fine.

Q: Is this pedal true bypass or buffered bypass?

Hi, I used this pedal mostly in the bypass mode and have not detected any latency or changes to the signal, the sound was clean. I read through the instructions leaflet but it did not say if it was true bypass, maybe if I had a circuit diagram but I would have to open the unit and trace the circuit, which I do not want to tamper with.
