Rocktron PatchMate Loop 8 Floor Pedal

Excellent
I have owned many racks and gear. In the 80's Bob made all the gear for the pros, EVH etc. I had an original Patchmate and loved it. This one is the same without the Hush. The separate loops allow you to have as many as 8 loops. Do not confuse loops with send rcv, it has 8 relays but you can configure 8 loops since you each loop has 4 connections. Unlike the Voodoo Lab Hex which has 6 button for 6 effects it only has 2 loops a 1 an 5 loop.Only downside is the old Patchmate had HUSH built in which was awesome. Guess finance dept wanted them to milk us by buying a separate HUSH. Too bad. Either way this is the best midi patcher out there period. Also on a side note I used this to switch my 5150 III EL34s 100watt which is non midi with a special cable I made and Momentary Control Messages sent to the Patch mate to momentary click the circuit. Genuis for designing this in the patchmate.

loved it

hate it
Different from website description, the product is huge in size, extremely heavy, pedal buttons are too close together, it requires 9 more additonal cables to connect buttons 1 to buttons 2-8, and the midi plugs are misleading dont work, you need an additional expensive midi controller. And finally, the seller wants to keep $92 from my refund!

pretty darn good
I had previously used the old rack mount PatchMate. I wanted the same functionality in my pedal board so I ordered one of these. Out of the box it is in single loop mode to turn on and off the individual loops. I wanted it in Preset mode to turn on and off multiple effects with 1 switch. I emailed Rocktron and got a reasonable prompt response:Turn the unit ON and within the first 3 seconds press and hold store until it starts to flashThis is the first set up page which different midi channels can be selectedHit store once more to go the 2nd set up pagePress switch 5 to turn on loop 5Hit store once more to exitThe unit should go to preset 1Now turn ON the preset switch to lock the unit in preset mode.To change or modify a preset you will now have to first turn off the preset switch to make a change or select a different loop on/off state.Works perfectly. The unit is pretty heavy, but it's rock solid. Do expect to have a lot of cables on hand. Each effect you add needs a send and return as well as a connection from the previous loop to the next loop. If you use the unit in the default single loop mode, it is very easy to use. Expect to spend some time with the manual to get all the functionality out of it though. Also spend some time planning out your pedal board. The biggest problem I had was with cord management, especially the size of the 1/4" jacks (add another couple of inches to the back of this unit to accommodate the jacks).I'd have given it 5 stars if the manual had included the instructions on setting it up in Patch mode and if the manual was better.
