Super Sticky and Slim
Before purchasing the Nav Mat II I did some homework looking at reviews on-line. I was surprised by the extremes in the reviews, some said it stuck like glue to their dash, while others said it slid all over. At first I thought there might have been a direct connection between their dash surface geometry or material, but decided to give it a try anyway. When I got the product, I noticed that there was a clear plastic film on the bottom of the mat, and sure enough when I placed it on my dash, it slid around easily. However, once I took the film off, it really stuck well and there is no way it would slide around. I looked on and in the box but nothing there regarding having to peel the plastic off, so perhaps that is why others had the reported sliding problems? At any rate, this thing is an excellent product and it performs perfectly in my car. Highly recommend it.

Solved my dilemma
I have a dash cam that I don’t want mounted to my windshield, since there’s no good way to route the power cable. My dashboard has a textured finish and the suction cup for the cam bracket would not stick well and kept falling off the dash. Along comes the Bracketron mount and problem solved! I can see this working equally as well for dash-mounting a phone, GPS or other suction cup mount. This is rock solid and works better than I would have imagined!

Terrible Removal!!!
This mount worked great for a couple of months and I really liked it initially. It did a great job of holding the GPS in place, looked attractive, and didn't seem to be getting attached to my dashboard. It had some rather enormous problems though:1) It warped over the summer. I live in Florida and this was in my car, so I figured it would warp eventually. It did so faster than I thought it would though - as soon as the outside temperature hit the mid-80s, the warping and buckling began and it just continued to get worse as time passed. Again, I expected to have to replace it, so this wasn't horrible, and if it was the only issue, I would have happily installed the second one that I purchased to replace the first one.2) I thought this would be easy to swap out with a new one because it wasn't adhesive. I had lifted it off the dashboard a couple of times (usually just a corner or two) and found it simple and quick to do, so thought switching would take just a few minutes. I was very, very wrong. Somehow the cushiony part of the pad and backing fused to my dashboard in a very adhesive-like way. Nearly all of the cushion peeled off of the mount and stuck to my dashboard instead in a 1/4" rectangle that seems a lot more like tar than any kind of foam or cushion. It got all over my hands, under my fingernails (I was literally prying this thing off of my car), on my clothes, on the doorknob to get back into my house...everywhere. Now - more than an hour, one scraper, two towels, a whole bottle of GooGone, a bunch of WD-40, and a *lot* of scrubbing later - I have *almost* all of it off. Sadly, it covers a large surface area and has a lot of padding that became effectively tar.So - does this do a good job of holding the GPS in place? Absolutely. Is it removable? "Easily transferable" as the description says? In my experience, no, absolutely not.In the package for the new one - which I had already opened since I had no doubts about installing it prior to this removal experience - there is a buried notice about not leaving this on the dashboard for long periods of time in 150+ degree heat. Fair enough. I should note though, that the not-adhesive backing only works as long as it doesn't get dust or anything on it. I didn't care to move mine around a lot and risk it getting dirty and not working, or transport the sticker backing to stick to it for anytime I wanted to remove it, so I left it in place. And that was indeed over the summer in Florida, where car interiors get very hot. I don't remember if this warning was in the package for for the one I just removed, so have no idea if I was warned about this by the company or not. If you're in a similar situation, I suggest you take this company warning very seriously - don't leave this thing on your dashboard for long periods of time unless you're planning on selling your car before you ever want to remove it!As for me, I'm going back to the sticky plastic circles. They're way cheaper, they don't warp, and they don't turn into tar on the dashboard. (Frankly, I think they'll be easier to remove too, should that time ever come.)

Looks way better than the beanbag mats and works great.
I hate the way those beanbag mats look sitting on a dash. This one looks more like the GPS is mounted to the dash and it stays put very well. It has sort of a sticky underside that grips the dash well, but if you want to remove it it doesn't leave any residue. I can move it from car to car with no problem.Edit: After using this for a few days, I have noticed something bad. Something so bad that I've taken away two stars from my original review. This thing is supposed to sit on a dash in the hot sun, but after less than a week, the disc has warped from heat so badly that I can't attach the suction cup to it. It's visibly warped and noticeable from a distance. I had bought two of these and the warping only has happened to one of them. My roof line covers the dash in my van, but in my car the dash is covered by glass so it gets more direct sunlight. The one in the car is the one that warped. If you're getting direct sunlight on your dash from straight above then be wary ordering this product. I'm wondering about how long it will take for the one in the van to warp from heat if the one in the car took less than a week. Let's face it, it's only April which isn't even the hottest time of the year. How would it do in July's heat? Honestly I don't know how their research and development could have missed this design flaw. It's black which gets hotter in sunlight and it's purpose is to sit on the hottest part of the inside of a car. Its ability to withstand heat should have been the second thing they tested right after testing to see if it will sit on a dash and hold a GPS. I already threw away the packaging so I don't guess I can return it. At least it didn't cost a lot.

A very good product and a great bargain
I'm very happy with this pad. I bought it to replace one that had much more weight, but slid all over the dashboard. This one stuck very well and hasn't shown a hint of moving. At less than $9 it's a huge bargain. Also, it has a much lower profile than the ones with a ring of weights, which makes the GPS fit better and makes it look nicer and much less noticeable on the dash.Update 2-6-15: We just bought a new car and liked this pad so well that I immediately bought a second one to mount our gps on the new dashboard. The first one is still working just fine and has never budged an bit in all the time we've had it. The price had dropped from when we bought the first too. There's no better way or better bargain for mounting a gps on your dash.

This satnav mat works in a slightly different way to some others. It consists of a non-slip mat which actually works and remains in place even during cornering etc. - it uses "Temporbond Technology" which leaves no residue. However, the footprint is slightly larger than some of the other friction mounts. Because it is flexible it will accommodate the contours of your dash. What is slightly different in approach with this mount is that you use your windscreen mount to stick your satnav to the Bracketron mount - most other friction mounts have an integral mount which you clip your satnav to. However, this system seems to work fine and offers the full range of adjustment. Two precautionary tales from my experience of portable satnav mounts (not the Bracketron in particular);- If you put it out of sight on the floor of the car when you park beware of debris that sticks to the underside - it will scratch your dash if you aren't careful.- Secondly, I don't know whether it's peculiar to Audis but a different brand of satnav mat stained the top of the dash - I left it in place for some time and when I moved it the two surfaces had reacted. However, I have not found any particular difficulty with the Bracketron mat.In summary, this product works well and is easy to use. Recommended.
