Hello, thanks for question. The whiteboard do have the pen tray below the board, you can put pen on it.

Q: Does the dry erase board itself hang magnetically?

No. There are 2 triangle 'hooks" on the top and 2 on the side so you can mount in either orientation. You must drill 2 holes in the wall and use the sheet rock anchors provided. The triangle hooks hang on the screws.

Q: Can I get a full refund or brand new replacement if I received a defective item?

Hello, the white board is 30 days free return whiteout any reason and if you received a damaged one,(not include the transportation issues), contact us anytime, we send the free replacement for you within 1 day.
