Yes it will be safe to iron on patches providing you don't use excessive heat. As long as the heat is below 300 degrees. To iron on patches the heat should be 270 degrees (plus or minus 10 degrees is acceptable) according to an online search.

Q: Is the bag double zippered? Cause the gidden lock is pointless unless there are zippers inside to lock into it

Yes it has a double zip as both zips lock into the combination lock.
