Quality high but 70/30 is tough with 12’
Won’t buy another 70/30 in a 12 foot rod- always in the way and tip is vulnerable.

Fishing
I bought this rod for jig fishing. It works way better than all the other jig rods I have. Great rod for a great price.

Just received
I just received the rod after waiting a week. I was all excited about using it this weekend and upon opening the box the rod tip was broken. I hope the replacement comes quickly. I’ll update laterAfter finding Okuma about 10 years ago I’m slowly switching over. I can’t complain about the equipment at all. For the price they are excellent..I have currently purchased 3 Okuma rockway rods and reels for surf fish in Florida and love them!!!!!

So far, so good.
I've only used it twice since I received the rod and so far, I like it. The action is nice - fast enough, and not noodly. Time will tell, but it's very similar to the rod it's replacing that is made by another brand that I'm pretty loyal to. The pricing is good. No regrets to date.

Great rod for the price
Extremely sensitive and super power rod, got 2 of them and I really love them. Most the time I fish for Striped Bass and never had a problem with those rods it all!

Broke on first use
Recently purchased the Okuma SST-S-802MHa (Medium-Heavy).First complaint, it's actually a 2-piece rod, not 1 piece as advertised here (but I did know that, having researched it on the Okuma website first).Second and much bigger complaint: literally, the very first bite I got on the rod was a big fish. I got a good look at it when it got close to the boat and am guessing it was around 40 lbs. It took another run before I could net it, and while bring the fish back up from that run, CRACK!, the rod's top piece breaks right above the spot where the two pieces connect.I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because it was a big fish, but still, I've landed plenty of fish that were much bigger than the rod's suggested line weight (30 lb in this case) without any of those rods breaking.

Rod arrived broken as stated in other reviews
Rod arrived, but tip was missing as per other reviews. Rod looks nice enough, just not useable. That the price, i'd expect it to arrive in 1 piece.

another great okuma rod
Great rod, wanted something that could handle a little more casting weight then a ultralight rod but still light enough for smaller fish. this was perfect. Will probably also use it for pink salmon as well as some coho.

Amazing rod!
This rod is simply amazing! It is light but very strong, has a good balance (I paired it with a size 40 pflueger president) and one of the best things about it is that it packs small (the 10.5 ft breaks into 4 pieces). Used it for kings last week-end (got a couple in the 25 lb range easily) bobber drifting egg sacks and beads on a Lake Ontario tributary and it held ver well, I was quite impressed. After my wife tried it too, she wouldn’t go back to the 9ft daiwa acculite she used before as it felt lighter and better balanced (and in a all fairness, the acculite was half the price so I can’t complain). Being a 4 piece rod, I thought the sensitivity would be horrible and because I was planning to use it for bobber fishing, it didn’t really matter to me. But I was wrong, I could easily feel the leader rubbing against structure and even fish at times which helped me avoir foul hooking a few fish for sure. I haven’t tried it bottom bouncing yet so not sure how it would feel in that context but for bobber fishing it would be hard to beat in my mind. The only minor comment I would have is that the reel became loose a few times and I figure it was due to the way my wife was holding the rod (it didn’t happen while I used it). The nut that tightens the reel seat is just below the reel foot, where you grip the rod while casting. But no big deal, it stopped doing that after I tightened it a couple of times. Looking to buy another one soon as this one is hers now 🙂.
