Olympus AS-2400PC Transcription Kit

I used to type meeting minutes from digital recordings taken at project meetings. I was able to easily load the software that comes with this kit and after tweaking it to my liking through the settings, import the recording into the software, plug in the foot pedal and the headphones and easily transcribe them. The software is pretty intuitive and keeps track of whether you've transcribed a recording, and allows you to make some adjustments to the sound quality, rewind duration when you lift your foot off the pedal, and tracks where you are in the recording. It separates finished recordings from those that are undone or in process. It worked seamlessly with MS Word. It's expensive, but if you need to transcribe digital recordings, it's well worth the cost and a great improvement over the old-fashioned transcribers and tapes.

This is the second Olympus AS 2400 Transcription Kit I've bought for our Medical Office. We do a high volume of transcribing recorded dictations to Word documents and this set up is perfect. The benefits of pausing, rewinding and fast forwarding are very useful. The pedal held up for a very long time (almost 3 years) before finally burning out.The software is simple to install, and I was even able to install it onto a computer that had no CD drive by coping the installation files to a jump drive. The second time around, I did more research to see if this was still our best option and I found it was. Great value for the price too.

Software was eady to install and use. Foot pedal controls work great. Headphones are low quality but adequate for doing transcription. Most people already have headphones of better quality they can use instead. So for me, the headphones are a nonissue. Overall, a good investment.

I ordered this product for an online administrative assistant course. It is a cheap transcription kit compared to other kits that I have seen (which were 500 upwards!). This works great!! It plays all the files that I need to play and I like how it has a pin/usb adapter included in the kit. I do not use the headset provided with the kit because I prefer my own headphones (and they're more comfortable). You have to adjust the pedal controls from settings because default is that the left pedal is forwarding and right pedal is rewinding. Other than those two things... it is definitely worth the money!!

AFTER you figure out what the dashboard means, this product is reliable and the pedal promotes speedy accurate transcription - depending on your typing of course. (trying to do this process without this program, just using a mouse, is a lost cause!)
