Better space wolf novels out there
Not my favorite, but okay story. The characters all seem unsure and full of self doubt. Not at all like in other novels. They refer to themselves as Space Wolves which they never do, only others. The constant change in authors for each chapter changed the feel too

A bit of a spoiler.Somewhat enjoyable book, but it has a number of elements that just seems to distracts from the main storyline of finding the Logan Grimnar. The changeling, the dark eldar and the dark angels takes up significant portion for the books with no meaningful purpose for the main storyline other than just filling the pages it seems, by my opinion. With no explanation on how Logan and his company got captured and what exactly he found in the expedition he went to find in the first place.

The Wolves against all?
This is a somewhat original title because it is a single story broken up into novella size chapters of about thirty to fifty pages each which follow each other but are written by four different authors (Ben Counter, Steve Lyons, Bob Sanders and CL Werner, with each writing two consecutive chapters). You might, as I did, find some parts better than others and appreciate some authors more than others. They are however no “poor” ones and since they form together a continuous story, they tend to reinforce each other. One of the main features of the book is that you get a number of glimpses at the space Wolves, their rashness and bravery, but also their recklessness and their struggles when trying (and often failing) to control their battle rage and berserk instincts. One nice piece is found in one of the last stories where the Wulfen (I will not tell you what they are to avoid spoilers for those who do not know already) make an appearance.Another feature is that the book includes a whole cast of adversaries, including the Tau, the Black Eldars, the Alpha Legion, the Thousand Sons and even a couple of Chaos Space Marines (respectively a Space Marine of the Black Legion and a World Eater), a few Oks and a Tyranid encountered in an arena. One of my favourites was the scenes taking place at “the Dark City” of Commorragh and those featuring the sadistic and cruel Dark Eldars on their deadly skimmers. Also included in this title are the rather fractious and tense relations with the Dark Angels that threaten once again to breakout into open conflict, with the Wolves both somewhat reckless and not above double dealing. A further feature and a common thread to the whole story is that of a Changeling Lord that seeks to destroy the Space Wolves and starts by infiltrating the Fang to goad them into searching for their missing Great Wolf Logan Grimnar. There are however a few inconsistencies between the various narratives which give the impression that the authors may not have perfectly coordinated their stories or that the copy-editing might have been less than thorough. One of these is that Logan Grimnar and his men are besieged by the Tau in one story but the later disappear entirely once he reappears as a prisoner of a Chaos force and on a different (although nearby) planet. Four stars all the same.

A good read for those who like their Space Marines boozing, brawling and hairy.

One of the worst Black Library novels I ever read
Written by four different authors following the same story arc, and it shows. One of the worst Black Library novels I ever read.Style, mood, villains and character demeanours change every two chapters. Disappointing.
