Thanks for Thanksgiving: A Warm and Genuine Picture Book About What Children Are Thankful For

Love this book for my 2 year old. It focuses on gratitude for Thanksgiving. It rhymes and there are only 1-2 sentences per page, perfect for a 2 year olds attention span. Great illustrations that captivate him. He especially likes the snowmen.

My favorite book for Thanksgiving. I’m a teacher and just love this book for the pictures.

This book is beautiful! The story rhymes and talks about several things a small child would be thankful for- parks, slides, puppies and kitties. It also talks about being thankful for mommy, daddy and the love of family. The illustrations are beautifully rich and remind me of Fall and the holiday season. I got a copy for my children and another for my niece and I could not be happier. I would recommend this book!

I love this book. I ordered one for my older kids when they were little. Then I gave a copy to their pre-k teacher who wrote me to tell me she’d read it every year to her students. I bought this book again for my younger child (she’s 7) and read it to her. It made her cry. We decided to make a tradition where every year we put one thing we are thankful for on the back blank pages of the book. She will be able to keep it for forever.

I found this book at the library when my oldest was a toddler and her brother, a newborn. We've read it every year since, and now I've purchased copies for them to keep (there's a spot in the back to write in your thankful thoughts each year). I've also given this book as a gift to grandparents, nieces, friends... it's illustrations are realistic and beautiful, the rhythm of the story is lovely and the message itself is exactly what you want a child to learn about the meaning of the holiday. I'm thankful that I discovered this book 5 years ago, and that it's become a part of how we celebrate Thanksgiving each year!

It's a cute seasonal story. The illustrations are beautiful. There is plenty to discuss with young kids. On the last page, they have a page where they encourage you to take notes from each Thanksgiving so it makes the book a nice keepsake.

Nice introduction about gratitude for young children. Includes many examples relevant to their everyday lives. Delightful illustrations, too. :)

I like to get books for my kids about the different seasons and holidays and then pull them out every year. We can read old familiar stories and hopefully in the future my children will remember this stories every year at that time and have memories of the stories we read together when they were young. I was looking for a book that focused on the "thankfulness" of thanksgiving--using this time of year to express gratitude for all the good things in our lives. I wanted less focus on pilgrims and that sort of thing as we are from Canada and our thanksgiving is more about the harvest and giving thanks. This book is perfect. The back page includes a place to write your "thankful thoughts" and I think it will be nice to include different things from each year. The book opens with "Thanks for thanksgiving, turkey and pie. Thank you for fall and gold leaves floating by." It continues on to list things like school, music, animals, hopscotch, puddles, parents, the moon etc. I really like the rhyming style and the variety of things to be thankful for, everything from puddles to "the family I love." The illustrations are beautiful and almost every page features the family together, emphasizing that being together is the greatest thing to be thankful for.

What a lovely heartfelt book for Thanksgiving! Thankful for all the little things in life, very appropriate for children. My grandsons loved it! Am especially fond of writing what we are thankful for at the back of book. The author provided a special place for this .. the real Thanksgiving spirit!

I didn't realized that this is a book for rather little children, I'd say 3 years max. Past that it's boring. So if you have small children + want them to understand what is out there that you can/should be grateful for, it's cute. The illustrations are also nice.
