I was searching for something to replace my old 11x17 flatbed scanner that is no longer supported. I had my doubts when ordering this product, but I was pleasantly surprised. You have to be very careful about making sure you have good, even lighting, and you have to be careful about aligning the sheets consistently, but the results are quite acceptable. This would be a good product for someone trying to scan large maps.I am going to buy a plexiglass sheet to hold the papers flat, but that's the only change I'd make.

It seems to work although installing and functioning took some time. Advice from help desk did not help much and the user guide is limited.

The quality and ease of using this product was surprising. I frequently scan newspaper articles, and they rarely fit on a flatbed scanner. Thus, I had to use Photoshop to stitch together 2-3 scans of the articles, which took considerable time. This scanner will handle A2 size paper, which is big enough to capture all major newspapers (e.g. Wall Street Journal), is easy and fast to use, and delivers crisp clear optics. It even has its own source of lighting. Excellent buy, and I rarely take the time time to rate products.

Had been searching for a while for a high end, but affordable scanner for my 16 x 20 paintings. I have attached one of the scans. Beautiful. The light on the scanner is best used with no additional lights in the background. You get the best scan.

I bought this to scan vintage catalogs and the resolution is really terrible. In addition the arm has a tendency to fall just a bit and it takes things out of square. The most annoying thing is there is no catalog or owner’s manual to tell you how to adjust the brightness saturation.etc. There is a place to do that but no clue how to make it work. There is also several resolution adjustments but with trial and error I am still not getting it. I have thrown away the packaging otherwise I works return this turkey

First, this product works amazingly well, but you will have to figure that out for yourself, because while they say you can download a "user's manual" all they seem to have available it a "quick start" guide. AND, there wasn't even a quick start guide in the box shipped to me, but I found it online. The online specs for this S21 model are wrong. The online specs say it has a 20.1 megapixel camera, but the unit actually does 27 megapixels!! There doesn't appear to be anyway to focus the camera, but the autofocus seems to work remarkably well. The software that figures out where the printed text is on a page is just mind blowing. It figures out the most absurd document geometry presentations. While they say a "Scanning Mat" comes with the product, I didn't get one in my box. The really bright engineers who designed this product could sure use some tech and sales support worthy of the product.

I've used various strategies to capture documents and books and I was initially attracted by the 23MP density and large-format scanning. Sadly, the device will not render text with sufficient clarity to take advantage of the sensor size and produce good OCR results; rather, I could get better OCR using my phone or my M4/3 camera. I will be returning this scanner, as it fails at the one job for which I really needed a dedicated device:It's unsuitable for digitizing my personal library of textbooks and literature. If the device's light is off and I use an oblique source of illumination, there is too much noise in the image, not enough contrast. If I increase the ambient lighting or use device's light, I get washout and/or glare that makes texts unreadable. Something in the automatic light sensing and exposure-adjustment either needs refinement or the components are simply not up the task—there is nothing in the software that is available to the user to manually adjust things like focus or exposure.

Great for high quality A2-sized scans. Software is easy to use
