4.5 stars. In the realm of mercenaries, I found book one of 𝒯𝒽ℯ 𝒢𝓊𝒾𝓁𝒹 series to be slow-burning and great world-building. Dani is a top-tier mercenary in The Guild. All of that is about to change, as someone is determined to take Dani down. Leon is a hacker for The Guild, but he is also so much more than meets the eye. Dani and Leon become a little bit harried on an assignment, and the sexual tension is high. But this next assignment could prove to be dangerous. Dani is taken hostage. It becomes a game of wills between Dani and Kai, the man who is holding her captive. I honestly don’t know which couple to root for. This story is full of suspense and intrigue, and that ending has me for a loop. Tate James is a new author, and I enjoyed this first book and plan to continue this series.

Honey Trap
6/5⭐ Extra Star Read Honey trap is Materful, unique, well written and just so good. What an enjoyable read. Completely addicted to each page. The characters are so multi-dimensional. I highly recommend going in not knowing too much about it it's so much better that way. I like that it's not labeled. You think you have an idea and then it takes you in in a different place but I should have seen it coming it makes complete sense. So this is where I'm going to go in a little more detail but I again suggest that you go in not knowing as much but if you want to know more I will start with the FMC.She was one of the most unique FMC's I have read. The book has a spy kind of vibe to it like Alias meets mercenaries. It's multi POV. And the insights into FMC Danny's mind are everything. It has a forced proximity stockholm syndrome type of storyline within part of the book however it's a new take on it, its flipped. Instead Danny is somebody who is playing her captors. And you know that as you're reading her play the situations. I loved that so much. Then you have perspectives from the other characters in the book, again I don't give too much away but you know these aren't the good guys. So it's very interesting being inside their heads with these types of characters that think differently that May's want a romance or want a character but they also have other priorities and other thoughts. A theme with the characters are that they are not what they seem to each other on the outside and you get more insight into what they're thinking and who they actually are, what they actually think, and what they actually do as the reader. As the reader your felt like you're letting on something but Tate still will surprise you with the characters and story as you're reading. This story was so good, the characters were so good, this book is so good. I just I don't have the words to say how amazing the story is, just read it, believe the great reviews, the rave reviews, they are true. Saving the best for last of 2021 releases. Highly Recommend dare I say now my favorite Tate James book.

this series was soooo good! 🔥🥵
SERIES REVIEW-NO SPOILERS-10/10⭐️5/5🔥MFM/dual POV/dark romance/gunplay/knife play/DVP/pierced 🍆/graphic murder, gore, violence and torture/secret society/assassins/arms dealersThree book series that MUST be read in order. Books 1&2 end on cliffhangers! The Guild trilogy is a new series born from the Shadow Grove world. While some characters have been met in the existing MADISON KATE and HADES series, their cameos are not crucial to this storyline.Danny was raised by The Guild, it’s all she’s ever known. She has moved up the ranks as she’s aged and is now one of the top mercenaries in their organization. She is labeled as a ‘honey trap’ because her main goal is to extract info from her target, using her body to do so. Brings a whole new meaning to “catching more flys with honey.” 😉 Then she eliminates her target if the job contract requires an execution…Leon, who is ‘just a hacker’, has worked a few jobs with Danny in the past and has always admired her. When she calls him for some assistance when one of her jobs looks more like a set up then a contract, he decides he no longer wants to be away from her. She‘s consuming his every thought. Danny’s always been attracted to Leon, just didn’t think he felt the same. Leon starts to follow her from a distance, making sure to watch her back, even though he knows she’s one of the best. Insert super possessive Leon… Danny takes a contract that Leon tells her is a suicide mission, and this just furthers their speculations that some one is trying to have her killed.Kai, an international arms dealer and Danny’s current target, immediately suspects Danny’s nefarious plans and he kidnaps her away to interrogate her and find out who shes working for. Imagine his surprise when he sees more lust in her eyes then fear. 😏 Kai has his own vendetta against the Guild which we learn more about later in the first book. Now again, Danny is one of the best… so she won’t break for Kai, but when attraction starts to merge with reality she begins to question Kai’s true feelings or if he’s just honey trapping her… after all, she knows how it’s done. But she’s determine to escape, and she knows Leon is looking for her. As they begin to uncover secrets from the hundred year old Guild, they start to piece together some shocking revelations… Can they work together to find out why someone is trying to have Danny assassinated? Can Leon and Kai put their hatred for each other away to help the woman they both love stay safe?Okay so first off… I freaking LOVVEEE Leon. He’s my favorite kind of psychopath… err well, sociopath. 😉 Danny is one badass boss babe. She was such a strong resilient character who knew her worth. She alway had a positive attitude toward what they were going through. I loved watching them form bonds. Danny and Leon’s sexual tension is off the chart in the beginning… until they figure out they are equally attracted to each other and then all bets are off.. as well as all the clothes. The spice in these books was 🥵 bringing all the dirty talk. I loved that Danny could match Leon’s crazy, and he loved her all the more for it. I worried about Kai being in over his head a little but he did well holding his own throughout the book. I enjoyed the slow connection and friendship Leon and Kai started to form and the banter between all of them was just top notch. It had me laughing so many times. This series is full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes and begging for more! Those cliffhangers are rough though.. so don’t say I didn’t warn you! 🙃 Tate never disappoints. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Amazing.
Leon is such a recurring character that you can't help being curious about him. Now's your chance to get to know the real man and mercenary. Terrific plot and world building. Great characters.

EXHILARATING
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ / 5My god. Tate has done it again. She threw us into a crazy story that was captivating and exhilarating start to finish.I loved how mysterious Tate was about this book, you never knew enough details and that forced readers to go in practically blind, which was key. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY YOU SHOULD GO IN BLIND. I'm not going to tell you much because it will absolutely take away from this book. There are no heroes here, being in the guild is about life and death. These characters are absolutely messed up, dark, and lethal. You won't expect the curve balls thrown your way while reading and you won't be able to put this book down. It's truly a unique story, filled with action and of course some serious spice because Tate always does that so well. You will question your morals, the characters morals, you'll question whose story this is and just when you think you know what's going on, think again, that is the beauty of this book and the mystery of it. I think it is by far one of my top favourite books from Tate. Of course the book ends in a killer cliffhanger in true Tate fashion, I wouldn't expect anything less but damn it was seriously unexpected. This story takes place in the same world as Shadow Grove, so if you've read the MK and Hades series then you'll have already had insight into that world. It is not crucial to read them before this but you might as well because they were phenomenal anyways.

The Guild

The Shadow Grove universe just gets better and better
"She just sat there all decked out in satin, lace, andweaponry..."With any good action-packed RH, the first in a series is used to flesh out the characters, relationships, settings, and initial problems. For such in depth books, it's necessary to really get into the world. Tate James delivered and I was absolutely immersed in this one.The character creation & development in this book specifically is top tier. My favourite of the Shadow Grove world thus far. I loved getting to know the characters and their quirks so they could make a nice cozy home in my heart. The internal monologue is amazing, especially Danny's manipulation and Leon's casually murderous thoughts. You really get into the characters' mindsets - however deceptive or genuine - and it helps that they're hilarious. The world is beyond exciting, especially the insight to the Guild and the mercenary life.As usual with Tate James, expect a cliffhanger to haunt vou for a few weeks.
