Defective device. Customer service is useless.
My previous review was excellent. As soon as I submitted it, my door stopped working. I called customer service and they were no help. They just keep repeating the same instructions, over and over. I asked to speak to a manager, and was told they didn’t have any. I asked to speak to the owner, and they refused. I asked if they would refund my purchase, and guess what, they didn’t know.

Happy it works well
So far it works great! I dont really use the app that much so I can't really comment on that. I have 6 dogs so I don't care to get notifications for every single time they use it. The only issue I have been running into is that I would prefer if I could shorten the time it opens. I have an outside dog that keeps tagging along with the other dogs when they come in. And my other dogs like to stand in front of it and keep in open which is annoying. My biggest crique is the installation instructions are TERRIBLE. I was able to figure it out and used Google for help. But overall it works good and I'm satisfied with the purchase. Expensive but I think it's worth it so far. Just PLEASE change the instructions! After doing a LOT of research I was nervous to get an automatic one cause it seemed like all of them had very mixed reviews. I am very pleased with my choice so far.

Look elsewhere
Pros: Ability to have secure entry for a larger dog if it works appropriately. My cat loves that he doesn't have to touch the door for it to open. Cons: The door is not dependable. Decides not to open, or opens by itself at least daily. I would not trust it to let my pets in while I am away. I have frequently noted one waiting inside or out and the door not reacting. The rechargable collar is unsafe. The test button is easily pushed by the dog. (Which then results in your dog being shocked if you are using the prongs- which the collar is designed to be used with 100% of the time.) Why it is even necessary to have a test button on the actual collar is unclear. No charge indicator on collars or door itself which is another reason I would never trust it to let my dogs in and out while I am not there. Separate battery sold for door no longer holds a charge at all, after 6 months (if not plugged in unit will not work) Charging for rechargable collars is absolutely a pain in the ass if you don't use the prongs on your dog already. Get with the program. They should all be micro USB. This proprietary charger garbage is fire companies who only care about getting as much money as possible from their customers. The app for the wifi door is not for certain kinds of Internet, though that is not made clear anywhere. I only found out as an alert after I downloaded the app, made a profile to log in, and went to log in. What a complete waste!! Buttons are too easy to accidently push- example, turning off the door, accidently putting it on timer, turning off one of the sensors. Door is broken after 8 months of normal use. Door needs main circuit board replaced. After paying over $1000 for the door and collars, and then cutting a hole in my house, I expect the door to work longer than 8 months. Do not buy, do not support this company's design. I will be retrofitting a regular dog door in the hole that I've cut for this door rather than replacing parts. I only continued to use it as long as I did because I spent so much money on it. Overall, I was excited about the door until it locked my dogs out while it was hot. Luckily I was only gone a short time, but it could have been life threatening had I been at work. I was much more careful with it afterwards, and only avoided issues because I am diligent about when and how I let my dogs use it. The design is not well thought out. The things above could be resolved if the company cared about making a good product. Don't waste your money. The collar design is awful

The Good, The Bad, The Great.
The good, Here is the deal, overall this product has been great and is the main reason why i’m able to have a dog. I work 24hr shifts and without this product my dog would not be able to go outside and relieve himself. this invention is a game changer. The Bad It’s Sunday 6pm just finished door install and adoption day for my baby boy Domino. Foster family was excited as was I and tomorrow was domino trial 24hr test run of enclosure and door. I finished all the house renovation just in time. door is working and i’m stoked. Domino learned how to use it at lightning speed. Then the worst and unexpected happened. All the lights went away, needless to say no power. i’m frustrated, pissed and freaking out. 7pm then 8pm and i can’t fix it. As you can see the from the photos it’s a AC power plug issue. it shorted out in under an hour. I called the company, they were closed. tried every adapter i had that was close to the correct voltage and MAH. yes i know that is sketch but i was panicked. This is something the manufacturer has a track record of having problems with. per reviews i’m not the only one. check their actual website and see what i’m talking about. As you can imagine it’s a very specific voltage and amperage that no one else uses, who misses radio shack. Well me in that very moment. all hope was lost I had to come up with care for 24hrs atleast for one day. The great This is where things take an amazing turn. Cassie from factory direct seller on amazon responded on Sunday from 7pm on into 9pm eastern time to help me resolve the issue. People, I say again she responded on SUNDAY when the company themselves would not answer because they are CLOSED. I told her my story and she apologized and offered to overnight me a replacement and include the battery backup kit. There customer service is amazing as far as i’m concerned. i’m no longer concerned with quality of components. overall i think it’s well built and let’s be real, no one or thing is perfect. what matter is how problems are resolved. Other companies should take notes on what Cassie did. She turned lemons into lemonade. The review get it, great product. They need to work on power supply and there app could use some work.

A great solution -- if you need it.
I just got it installed and adjusted for the dog. Before I forget, I wanted to comment on why you should (or shouldn’t) buy this device and also its installation. I bought this door because we have an expensive Maine Coon cat in the house, and this was the only device that offered hope of letting the dog out while keeping the cat in. It may not work, but that was my motivation for buying something this expensive. Hopefully, the cat won’t tailgate the dog. We’ll see. If buying the latest and greatest is your motivation, I’d think hard about that. There’s a lot that can go wrong or wear out with this device. In any case, consider whether something simpler and less expensive would actually meet your needs. The installation wasn’t easy by any means, simply because I was replacing an existing door, and the sizes were different. This meant ripping out the old door and adding wood strips to screw into. The door comes with plastic drywall anchors, which I hate and immediately threw in the trash. Instead, get some Stud Solver 50 lbs. Drywall and Stud Anchors, but be careful not to overtighten, as described in the manual. I also bought the metal tunnel, which was quite nice, and I’d recommend it. It made the installation easier and gives everything a finished look. It would have been better if it allowed the bottom four screws to go into the tunnel instead of the drywall, which crumbled. I ended up adding wood shims to screw into. I bought the Wi-Fi model so I could monitor what the dog is doing, which might allow me to set up schedules to reduce the chance of the cat getting out. And, yes, I thought it was cool. Yeah, I know, contradictory. Connecting to the Wi-Fi is fairly straightforward, though a bit odd. (You have to reset the door, which involves pushing buttons and power cycling it.) I have a Wi-Fi extender, but the door wouldn’t connect to it. It connects to my router just fine. I’m not sure what that’s about.

Too inconsistent to merit the price and cutting a hole in your door.
I've had this door for a little over a month now. It is installed in a door in my home, not the wall. The good: - took my dog no time at all to figure out how to use it - i like that the collar opens the door instead of my dog having to physically nudge the door open The bad: - out of the box, it wouldn't connect to the app. after 2 outreaches to their support, they shared that the app wasn't working. they promptly had their developer push an update and that fixed that issue. - consistently since installation, the door experiences errors and will not close fully on it's own. it will serially attempt, get about halfway and then go back up. i then have to turn it off, manually pull it down and then turn the door back on. Loosening the screws helped once, but has done nothing since - the door is finicky. if the collar is a bit askew, the sensor turned down slightly, the screws too tight, all of it leads to the door not functioning properly. In about a month of the door being installed, i'd say it's worked properly for maybe 5 days. Overall: This is an expensive product with a hefty installation cost (time, energy, money). It should work better than this on a consistent basis. If there is a product that automatically opens the door for the dog and works better, buy that. And let me know as I'd love to have it too.

Is this thing really worth the money?
I have had this door since 2023. We had just a flap type before. High winds would come in. We had mice come through to get to the dog food. This seemed like a good fix. Very expensive but good idea. I decided to go all in. I got the 12 volt battery for back up when the power goes out. Installed the door. For the first year it worked great. The app was a waist of time. The app only works within the house. Only opened and closed the door. All the other features did nothing. But for the most part the door did what I needed it to do. After about one year it stopped working from the transmitter on the dog collar. The app would open the door the buttons would work the door. So I ordered another transmitter at 60$ with tax. It came in. I changed the transmitter. It started working again. About 3 months latter. The door stopped closing. It would try but then just go back up. I cleaned the door and all the tracks but that didn’t help. So next I started spraying the tracks and all I could with WD-40. This fixed it again. In the mean time I am spending about 20$ a year for these little batteries in the transmitter. These batteries are way over priced. So I decided to buy in bulk to try and save a few dollars. I bought 2 five packs of batteries. After this the new transmitter stopped working. I checked the batteries with a tester. Tried changing the battery again. Started thinking the door was broke. After trying everything else out I decided to try the old transmitter again. Now the old transmitter worked but the new one didn’t. So we just started using the old transmitter again. After about 6 months now the transmitter is eating a battery every 3 days. Honestly I don’t know if it is the shelf life on the batteries or the transmitter but I just bought another transmitter at 60$. The amount of money I am spending to try keep this door working after paying 500$ for the door is ridiculous. They have finally updated the app. It now counts the number of times the door opens and closes. The app is much better now. So that is a plus. I have not tried it outside of my house yet to see if it works, but how often do I need to see what my dog door is doing. Overall the door works as advertised. I feel like It requires way too much attention. It cost way too much to keep it working. Maybe if the transmitter was rechargeable or they make an adapter so you can use normal batteries in the transmitter it would be a lot nicer. They definitely need to do something to bring down the cost. I can’t say it is worth the money.
