I used the “galloping horse” cup and saucer as a gift for my horse-loving daughter. This is just the right size for her to display in her limited space. It was carefully packed against breakage.

I gave this as a gift to my best friend’s wife. She left me the most wonderful voice mail, thanking me, saying how much she loved this cup and saucer.

I was completely enamored by the photos and video of this set and I was so excited to purchase this cup, saucer, spoon set.When I opened the box, it has such a gorgeous elegant look with its shiny metallic gold and fancy matching spoon. The saucer was a little large then I expected but that's fine.The lines of the saucer reflected onto the mug, showing the image of a horse. YAY!So now the moment I had been waiting for, I slowly rotated the cup on it's saucer and watched ready for the horse to gallop...nothing. I tried slower and faster. I tried rotating just the saucer. Nothing.I was so disappointed. The movement was the whole point of the thing. I got my phone and videoed it, planning on submitting it as evidence that my set was defective. But guess what? On the video, that horse is galloping like the dickens. Soooooo the optical illusion does work but only when played back on video. It is not visible to the naked eye. I still feel disappointed but the set is still visually pretty and functional. It is still very unique and whimsical. I just wish that piece of information would have been disclosed in the description.

I bought it for my daughter as a no-occasion-gift. After a week, I had to buy two more for my granddaughters, and both cups HAD TO have the same image as the first one.Try it at home.
