New item in the box. Never opened. Review: HARD DRIVE CAPACITY IS 2 X 8TB NOT 2 X 6TB AS DESCRIBED . INVALID USER NAME OR PASSWORD. - FOR NOW IT SEENS EASY ENOUGH TO HOOK UP. BEFORE I PURCHASED I CHECKED LOREX WEBSITE AND TALKED TO LOREX TECH PEOPLE. SAD TO SAY LOREX TECH PEOPLE ARE NOT VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ARE HARD TO UNDERSTAND. AFTER CALLING SEVERAL TIMES TALKING TO NUMEROUS TECH PEOPLE I CONFIRMED LOREX WEBSITE THAT STATES THIS NR9082 HAS A CAPACITY OF 16 TB 2X8TB HDD NOT 2 X 6TB AS DESCRIBED IN THIS DESCRIPTION ALSO IF YOU SEE THE INVALID USERNAME OR PASSWORD ON MONITOR YOU WILL HAVE TO OPEN CAMERA AND HOLD RESET BUTTON 15 SECS WHILE CAMERA IS CONNECT TO NVR. ALL POWER HAS TO BE ON. WATCH MONITOR AND YOU WILL SEE IT RESET. THIS WILL CLEAR OLD CAMERA DATA AND ENTER NEW CAMERA DATA ON THAT PORT ONLY. YOU MAY HAVE TO REPEAT ON EACH OF THE PORTS ON THE NVR. ONCE A CAMERA IS CONNECT TO NVR ITS PROGRAMED TO THAT PORT ON THE NVR. IF YOU CHANGE THE CAMERA AND REUSE THAT PORT ON BACK OF NVR YOU WILL HAVE TO RESET NEW CAMERA TO THAT PORT. IF YOU CALL LOREX TECH THEY HAVE NO IDEA THEY WANT TO HOOK UP TO INTERNET AND THEY GO INTO NVR AND TRY TO CHANGE PASSWORD MAKES TO SENSE JUST DO WHAT I SAID WORKS FAST NO PASSWORD CHANGE REQUIRED TO SET CAMERA. Review: Decent - I've installed a few of these. They work pretty well. The app is ok. No manual porting is nice. I'll say that Lorex customer service is bad enough to make these less of a value. I travel so I am able to understand the strong accents on their tech people. You cannot make a service ticket with Lorex you have to spend a lot of time on the phone for even basic questions/solutions.

Works great
This was a replacement for a similar unit that was wiped out by lightning . Tech support is not what it used to be

Video quality is great, NVR and apps not so much
I’m not even sure where to start with this. First let me say that I purchased this system to replace my 3 year old Nest outdoor cameras that still work great, I just wanted better video quality. I bought the newer IQ cams but they weren’t that much better than the original. I think the folks at Lorex and FLIR should buy a couple Nest cameras so they can see how the Nest apps are undeniably better. The daytime video feed from the 4K 30fps cameras (LNB9232S) I bought is really good quality but that’s about the only good thing I have to say about this top of the line Lorex NVR. The NVR’s fans are insanely loud! I thought people from other reviews were exaggerating. They weren’t! I originally wanted to put the NVR in our home theater room since it’s the easiest place to run cables to. But this thing is so loud you could hear it while watching movies. So I moved it to our guest bedroom. But then it was too loud for a guest to sleep with on so I had to move it to the closet and close the door so they could sleep. I don’t understand why it has to be so loud. Are there not better fans that aren’t so noisy? The FLIR cloud client software for the computer does not work on my Mac or my Windows pc. All updates were installed to both computers and NVR but it still doesn’t work. The software can find the NVR but when I get to the spot to “drag default group” it doesn’t do anything. It won’t connect to the cameras for live view. This is very frustrating since the only way I can to anything with the system is from the NVR itself. There are a ridiculous amount of settings yet no manual included with the NVR. It will make your head spin trying to figure out how everything works and what all the settings do. You have to download the manual from the Lorex site or watch their YouTube videos to figure it all out. It is needlessly over complicated to set it to get the optimal settings for the average homeowner. With all the settings it has the most important one it DOES NOT have is auto day to night IR. There is no way to disable “Color Night vision” without always making the cameras black and white, that means even during the day too. It has an auto setting but there is too much ambient light in my neighborhood for the color night vision to turn off and switch to IR even though it’s really too dark for color. The color night vision is total garbage without enough light. With extra light from the carriage lights over my garage the night video looks great close up but the further you get from the camera and the lights the darker it gets. This means I now have to always have my carriage lights on at night to get the best quality video because the IR won’t turn on. The IR video from the cameras is great but the NVR makes it frustrating to use. It looks like there here is a setting where you can set the time of day to force the cameras to IR but you would have to change the time of day that happens every couple of weeks to keep up with the changing sunset and sunrise, but like the cloud client, it doesn’t actually work. Even if it did who can remember or even wants to deal with changing the time of day for it to switch every couple of weeks?! The amount of “events” you get from the cameras are also a bit overwhelming. It was raining one night, I had the cameras force IR on, the motion notifications were set off all night because of the rain drops. Which in turn gave me a total of 650 notifications in 48hrs. 650 notifications with one camera?! That gave me over 1300 events to look through between the two cameras. Absolutely absurd! Needles to say, it’s impossible to find anything that may have happened with that many notifications to shuffle through. Lorex has a RapidRecap feature to view the motion events but if you don’t subscribe to the cloud service you only get 3 per month. It cost $7 per channel per month to have unlimited RapidRecap’s. It takes forever to render the video, a 12 hr recap can take an hour or more depending on how many events happened in that 12 hr period. It generates 10 different videos for you to watch from the 12hrs of videos. Those videos take around 60 seconds each to watch . While it does take less time to view all the events with the RapidRecap it still consumes an extraordinary amount of time to view all 12 hrs worth. Depending on how much traffic you have in your neighborhood it can take 10-20 minutes just to watch the RapidRecap’s, I wouldn’t consider that “rapid”. With the Nest app you can scroll through a whole week of events within a minute. The point of buying this system over Nest was to not have to pay a subscription. If I had to choose between subscription services to pay monthly for Nest wins hands down! The phone app is practically useless. You can view live video and saved video but that’s pretty much it. No options to change camera settings. No sound in playback or live feed even though the NVR is recording sound from the cameras. You have to click “enhance” every time you open the live view to see the good quality live feed. When playing back a motion event there is no skip 15 seconds back, so if you want to view the video prior to when the camera saw motion you have to go to the actual NVR. There are no thumbnails on the motion notifications so you have to click each one individually to see what the motion was, I get 200-300 motion events a day, clicking each one to see what it what it was is very time consuming. You can’t save the video directly to your phone, you have to download the video from the NVR to an external hard drive, import the video to a computer, then you can share the video by email or whatever. It’s an absolutely ridiculous process to get the recordings for a system that cost so much! It’s all so frustrating because the video feed from the cameras is really good, I would bet it’s probably close to the best you can get. There’s no denying the cameras are worth the cost IMO. But the NVR and apps make it such a hassle to use the video. I was super excited to get this system and to stop paying a monthly subscription but ended up very disappointed with the system. Maybe the next Lorex NVR will make the system more user friendly, if they do I wouldn’t hesitate buying it. All that said, the video quality from the 4K 30fps cameras I bought is fantastic. Even at its worst it’s still so much better than Nest. I can actually tell the make and colors driving by at night 50’ from the camera, Nest video was just blurry streaks light from the headlights and taillights in the video. Just wish it was more user friendly. P.s. Lorex must have fixed the 6 letter password, mine is longer

Lorex is ANTIQUATED!!
I agree with the people who rated this NVR with a one or two stars, my review deserves a -5!! It’s not so much that the NVR is a piece of work, (however it’s extremely loud), but the underlying issue is with the firmware, it’s antique!! The built-in web server won’t work on a Mac as it needs a plugin but Lorex does not offer one for download!! Their Lorex Cloud app for the Mac is so slow I could build a house the time it takes to load the interface. Lorex technical support pointed me to a third party website to download a software app that did work with the Mac but is only 32 bit architecture and that is antiquated too, needless to say the app is just as convoluted as the firmware on the NVR. I finally bought a 4K monitor that displays much butter than a 4K tv only to find a time consuming user experience. It’s the same with their Lorex Cloud Mobile App, at best sometimes it barely works. I also have the Ring Doorbell Pro, their apps are very user friendly but playback is poor @ 15 fps. For those who have a discerning need for a good user experience, you just don’t get the best experience using consumer based security devices or perhaps I haven’t found one yet as I’m on my 4th one.

Works for me
Operation could be a bit easier, but pretty much all of the DVR's and NVR's are the same. I would prefer to remove the password from functions like PTZ for fast operation.
