It depends on how you prepare it and the ingredients you ADD to the mix. Lemon is very drying, so don't use it. Chamomile tea or cranberry juice (diluted 50/50 w/h2o) are plenty acidic for dye release and they don't dry your hair. Henna takes awhile to remove from your hair. 3 minutes of rinsing is simply not enough. 10-25 minutes is necessary depending on how thick/long your hair is. After you MUST shampoo and condition to remove residue or your hair will FEEL dry. This will NOT effect the color. Note: it will not actually be dry, it will just feel that way because there is still henna powder in your hair. A lot of people know absolutely nothing about henna and try it once, screw it up and then blame the product. You MUST do your research or be prepared for unreliable results.
