After about 6 months of use half of the platter would not heat up which caused me to have to use on 5 the entire time and never able to achieve full power temperatures

This unit smokes for a while until you really heat it up and it burns off oilsand paints or whatever. I bought a Ceramic Tile from Home Depot to use for a hot plate under the unitto save the table. You will need oven gloves to move it once it has been heated up as the whole unit gets very hot.It works. its lower priced so you just need to deal with a few issues. Its definitely not to be used by children.

The way this thing snaps together means it will get crushed at some point, possibly make internal contact and burn up. That was my experience anyway. The only reason I did not send it back is that I salvaged some parts out of it that allowed me to repair another one.

bought used in "V.GOOD" condition.bottom falls off when u pic it up so u have to snap back together. even then it rocks spilling liquids . price was good for temporary use .

I needed these for a school science project. They are inexpensive but very poorly assembled. The top cover on all three that I received was dislodged when the shipments arrived, requiring some effort to get back into place. Then, when first used, some kind of oil or something inside the base was burned off. The first few times you use this it will smoke and smell terrible. These worked for the limited use I needed them for, but I can't imagine using these on any kind of regular basis. I'd be afraid they would catch fire!

I've been using this on my back patio to make Rick Simpson oil from my cannabis flowers. I use it on the lowest setting and it works perfect for a nice slow cook.

Worked very well. As you turn the temperature up the light indicates if it's still heating up or it has reached temperature. For boiling water in our science classroom it worked very well.

Boils water, gets to like 750 or so degrees.
