Easy to use and great price, you can't go wrong!
I recently purchased this external optical drive for my Yoga Ultrabook. My Ultrabook unfortunately lacked an optical drive and after a while I was getting a little tired of running over to my desktop PC in a different room just to rip music CDs and then copy the ripped files over to a flash drive and then copy them over to my Ultrabook. After searching for an inexpensive solution to that issue I finally settled on this drive and am glad that I did. They don't get any simpler than this device. I'm running Windows 10 and the drive worked flawlessly with it. I was able to rip a dozen CDs in one sitting with no issues and was able to stream various video files from a DVD without any issues. Overall, I really like the size and cost of the device, as well as the ease of use.

Great External DVD player - Easy to use and can't beat the price!
Bought a new Windows 10 Laptop and was disappointed to find that it didn't come with a DVD drive as I assumed all laptops would. Turns out the newest laptops don't put one in because it adds more weight and size, and that USB flash drives and online software installations are the way to go for the future. But there are still so many CDs and DVDs that I need to view and was thrilled to find this external optical drive which works great and is small and ight enough to put in the laptop bag to carry with you. So simple to use. Just plug it in and it will work like a DVD player should! Can't beat the price either.

Doesn't play DVDs
I used it once to install a program from a CD, and it has not worked since. I spent over an hour online researching how to get it to play a DVD, but it doesn't even recognize it as a playable file (it instead lists a bunch of files with fake extensions). I've tried changing device settings, trying to open the files (but it doesn't give me an option to use a video player, and like I said, they are fake extensions, so no program recognizes them), navigating to the DVD drive from multiple video players, switching the USB ports (my laptop only has two), plugging in my laptop even though it's fully charged (I've seen a lot of comments that it won't work with insufficient power, but I'm giving it all of the power my computer has). All it does is give me an option to import the pseudo files (which I don't want to do, I just want to play the DVD, not pirate it). If anyone can tell me how to get it to work, great, but as of right now, my opinion is that it's a major waste of money. Buy elsewhere.

Great little external CD drive - plus can be extended.
First off, incase someone missed the pictures, this external CD drive uses two USB connectors. One is for power, the other is a USB 1 B cord. For others, this could be a issue, so just putting that out here. For me however, this means I can use a longer USB b cord than it comes with, and even with the power being separated to a unique usb cord, I can use a extender on that if I need to, or even power it off of something other than my computer/laptop.As far as it works as a CD drive, yep. Works great, no issue. The cords it comes with are maybe 12" to 18" long, somewhere in that range. You can easily use a USB hub for both usb cables, I use a c port to 4x usb 3.0 hub on my laptop and while the data speeds obviously are always going to be eithor at usb 1 speeds or the cd read speed (I'm not sure which is slower, google it), it has no issues running on that.

Worked OK with CD; see details in Review
Most computers, esp. laptops and tablets, come with one, and, at best, two USB ports, all expecting users to connect a hub. Requiring the user to connect two USB's directly to the motherboard USB is completely unrealistic.Anticipating this problem, I purchased a high end USB hub with charging ports, meaning that the USB hub has its own 120 vac power supply independent of the computer power supply. The CD/DVD drive data and power cords plugged into the appropriate USB hub ports, everything worked surprisingly fast with a CD file read, which is why I gave 4 stars.I suggest CAZ3668 work out a set up for their disc drive where they can recommend a USB hub specification that works seamlessly for both types of discs. My USB hub is an Anker.(For the road I have a different single USB cord data/power connection CD (no DVD) drive that works OK on a single cord standard 4 point USB hub in my only laptop USB port. The trade off is a far slower speed than the subject dual cord CD/DVD drive and requires at least 40 percent full charge on my laptop battery, or nothing happens.)
