Good primer on the British Army
An early MAA book which introduces the British Army of WWI. The coverage is quite broad but there are good photos which enliven the text. I really enjoyed the colour illustrations which captured the dreary look of trench warfare.

Into the trenches, 1914-18...
As the Sam Mendes movie "1917" hits the theaters, it is appropriate to look back at the uniforms of the British Army during the "Great War". This Osprey Men-at-Arms Series book offers a review of the organization of the British Army during World War I, along with its adapted field uniforms and personal equipment. The narrative is concise but informative. The authors have managed to work in a surprising amount of interesting details, such as the prescribed content of field packs. The text is nicely supplemented with period photographs and modern illustrations, including the standard and well-executed set of color plates. Well recommended to viewers of the movie who might be interested in more details.
