Wow! A great start to a very special romance series.
The Ex Assignment by Victoria Page is a first read for me. I loaded up my Kindle the other day with Facebook, Bookbub and Amazon recommendations, all free with my Kindle Unlimited subscription, so no extra cost. What a deal!I was drawn to this book by it's cover art. Who can resist a sexy male with smouldering eyes on the cover? But when I read the synopsis I knew it was the book for me. It contains all the elements I adore in romance. I love a second chance story, featuring individuals that were once too young to fight for love, who grow up and realize what is really important in life. Happily ever after results from being thankful for the simple pleasures of life -- the sound of a lovers voice, the sweet taste of fresh strawberry that explodes on your tongue with that first bite, and the feeling of sunshine on your skin on the first warm day after a long harsh winter. Contentment is a emotion I long to experience. Reading the synopsis of The Ex Assignment gave me that feeling! The other element that captured my interest was the storyline that included a brooding, ex-military, turned private security/ covert ops male. I enjoy reading about not so perfect adrenaline driven men, who are having difficulty adjusting to mundane life at home. Yet, encountering a beautiful, independent, intelligent woman who refuses to take crap from anyone challenges the male to open and allow a softer side to appear. A story about a woman who can tame the savage beast of a man, sends tingles down my spine. It helps if the male character knows how make a woman feel adored and worshipped. The fact that steams pours off pages, making my heart race as does the two lovers is an added bonus. And an author who can make you feel that way using only words to describe a kiss or heated make-up session is worth their weight in gold! However, if you want to keep me reading, then the book has to include more than just sex. There must be a powerful mystery or adventure to impress me. AND it is even better if that suspense is set somewhere I have always wanted to visit. With all those characteristics, I can easily get lost in a book for hours. The Ex Assignment enthralled me, capturing my interest from page 1 until the very last word. Every word took me from my rocking chair in rural Dixon to Hollywood and beyond. The action was riveting and the "are they going to make it " suspense had me shouting at my new book friends to "Watch Out!" at every turn of a page. When I reached the ending, I cried at having to say goodbye! I was so distraught at having finished the novel in less than a day, I almost started it over, vowing to take my time and savor the words this time. Or maybe I will pick up the Audible version and see if the characters sound like I envisioned them! Even easier is to pick up the next book in the series available in Kindle Unlimited!

I was convinced they got it right this time...
****4.5 Stars****I have just been introduced to a new culinary delight thanks to The Ex Assignment. Peanut butter toast with pieces of sliced apple on top is delicious. Whether it be trying new culinary delights, or googling words, places, and things, I love expanding my knowledge. Victoria Paige takes me past the culinary delights to bombs, cartels and biochemical warfare. Again, Ms Paige has me convinced she is CIA and just happens to love writing romance stories on the side. Her stories just seem so believable and I’m scared how accurately she portrays what is happening in our world.I really enjoyed reading The Ex Assignment and in some ways, I was surprised how much I loved it. The original picture I was seeing turns out to be wrong and what I ended up with is so much better. Like any good story, it takes a wee bit of time to unpack all the pieces and slot them into the right places. Gabby and Declan’s story has a lot of rough edges and it’s only after 17 years apart that they realise the mistakes of their past. Immaturity and lack of life experience hindered their young relationship, and secrets, betrayals, and heartbreak kept them apart. Now that the secrets have been exposed, Gabby and Declan must decide whether to risk a second chance at love.It is definitely not a smooth ride for Gabby and Declan. While dealing with seeing each other again, they are also having to fight the bad guys, deal with Gabby’s half-brother, and solve the murder of her father. But, their attraction and connection to each other can’t be denied. Now they must learn to trust each other again and see if love can survive the second time around. The Rogue Protectors is a new series but we do get to catch up with some old friends. I loved the fast-paced and exciting world we are introduced to. The characters are strong, determined, and excellent at what they do. I absolutely loved Garrison’s character who reminded me of another favourite from Ms Paige’s Guardians series, Viktor Baran. Those cranky, bossy Alpha males with their single-minded focus on their objectives, really make me laugh. They are both very intimidating but it’s obvious that they have a heart underneath their tough exterior. The Ex Assignment was exciting from start to finish and I was left extremely satisfied. The sexy times were sizzling, and it was obvious that they were meant to be together. Yes, I was a little frustrated with their separation and what led up to that separation. It’s obvious they married too young and didn’t really have proper guidance or their priorities straight. This second time around was the right time, and the author convinced me they would make a success of their relationship. If you haven’t tried a Victoria Paige romance yet, I highly recommend giving The Ex Assignment a try.Stacey is Sassy, received an advanced copy of this story. Second Chance Romance
🔥 Second Chance🔥 Crazy Family Drama🔥 Cartel Storyline🔥 Standalone in a seriesSuch a crazy convoluted storyline. It was a quick and easy read. A little bit expected. Some weird twists and turns. Not sure I'll continue the series just because it is not what I'm currently in the mood for!! Almost not dark enough yet. Lol.My Personal Ratings:5 Stars: Loved it! Couldn’t put it down or obsessed about it while needing to get to the end of it. Had to share some bits with my hubby!! Usually read in less than 2 days cause a girl has got to sleep sometime. Will be reading everything this author has to offer and most likely reread the series as next books in the series are released.4 Stars: Really Good. Whether the story drew me in or a specific character, will definitely continue the series and look into more books by this author.3 Stars: Enjoyed something about the book, whether it be the storyline or a character but also may have not liked something. Sometimes the book is great but needs some TLC from an editor. May or may not continue the series.

ott protectors
This book is about Declan and Gabby. Their story spans over 17 years and oh what a ride! Aside from getting all the different characters confused, it was an overall quick and exciting read. Lots of simmering heat. Excited to read about the rest of the crew!
