It seemed great... at first.
We bought this in spring, 2019. It seemed well built and sturdy. It worked great all season. This year, 2020, it started leaking badly from the first time we got it out for the season. Tightening does no good, and we couldn’t find any kind of washer to fit inside to help seal it. It is rusting like crazy around this fitting now. We are very frustrated with it. We spent a little more on this to avoid problems. Not enough, apparently. See photo.

Parts don’t fit together making the hose reel inoperable. Don’t buy it.
The crank that turns the reel that initially came with the product was too large to fit through the opening on the frame. I communicated with the company and they sent me a second crank. The second crank fit through the opening on the frame, , but did not fit into the opening on the reel. I don’t have the time or interest to pursue a third crank, so I’m returning the entire reel. I can only conclude that the company has inadequate quality control and the product shouldn’t be purchased.

Missing parts and leaks like a sieve
As other reviewers have noted -- this is a very nice product. Tough, works well and I should be able to avoid replacing those plastic hose rollers every year. But the complaint about missing screws is spot on. How hard can it be to pack the proper number of screws? There must be a factory in China someplace where, after a production run of these reels, the workers look at the leftover pile of screws and wonder if something wasn't right with the screw count. So -- I would recommend the product -- but be prepared for a trip to the hardware store to get the proper fasteners to build the thing.UPDATE - After using the product lightly for 1.5 months, it has started to leak badly out of a factory installed fitting. It's not something the buyer can fix. If I could figure out a way to lower this rating to 1 star (or less), I would.UPDATE #2 - Didn't keep the box so I can't return to Amazon. Tried contacting Ames customer service, but all you get is an answering machine promising a call back in one business day -- which never happens. So if I could figure out a way to lower this rating to negative stars, I would.

Surprisingly good!
I bought this thinking it would probably suck since the price was too good to be true, but much to my surprise it is a very well-built, solid, product. It was a breeze to assemble, and there were even a bunch of random extra bolts in there which I assume were backups. The wheels are excellent pneumatic tires with smooth ball bearings. The only thing that I might beef about is the angle that the hose connects to the reel, it's at such an angle that my hose always kinks at the connection when I wind it. I'm going to order a kink-free hose and see if that does better. Otherwise, I'll just have to be careful when I wind it to see if I can avoid the kinkage.

Does NOT come preassembled
Awesome reel for long hose. Very easy to wind and rewind. Rubber wheels makes it easy to move. Important note. This product Does NOT come preassembled (one respondent to a question said that it did). It does take some effort and tools to build. But the design, functionality and quality makes it well worth the effort.

And Now You'll Know the Rust of the Story...
When I first got the Ames True Temper Hose Wagon, I was quite impressed with it and it definitely made using the garden hose much more enjoyable. Initially, the only negative about it was that there was no way to prevent more of the hose from spilling off the reel when I stopped pulling on the hose. Some sort of brake for the reel would have been in order. Now the really bad news: this reel is junk. After just one summer, I noticed a little bit of rust in various places on the frame and on the metal part where the short hose connects to the reel. During the non-summer months, I stored the entire hose wagon in my heated basement to keep it out of the winter elements. During the second summer, I noticed that the rust was getting worse and worse. The rust actually ate holes in the "chrome" handle and metal part where the short hose connects to the reel virtually disintegrated from the rust, making the hose wagon unusable.I had intentions of trying to repair this reel, but I eventually decided that it would require too much time and trouble to do that. There was just too much rust damage, which was extremely disappointing for a hose reel that cost over $100. Instead, I decided to buy a garden hose reel made by Rapid Reel.I recommend that you steer clear of this Ames True Temper Hose Wagon, because it is pure junk. I'm very happy with the Rapid Reel model, which is crafted better and uses better materials. And the reel has an adjustable brake so the hose doesn't continue to spill onto the ground when you stop pulling the hose off of the reel.Today, I finally took the Ames True Temper Hose Wagon to it's rightful home: the landfill. I threw it into the metal recycling dumpster and stood there a few minutes, wondering why it died such an untimely death. The Ames Hose Wagon was a complete waste of money for me.

Quickly Broken
I bought this in the winter and used in for the first time in early April. As I was un-winding 100' of hose, the cart held up nicely but in the last 10' of the hose, the reel broke. Therefore I had a critical failure the first time this thing is used. Bummer. Now I search for a replacement of a critical part.
