I ordered these but was a little concern with some reviews. I'm glad I followed my instincts. Just a described, metal and heavy bottom, the top retractable is hard plastic but seems strong. Now, mine will not be touch, I'm using it to keep people from going to an unsecured railing but just like anything if you are messing with it all the time it will brake no doubt, for example used around children hanging from them it will definitely brake. To me it was great product and it's doing the job. I actually ordered two sets and end up ordering one more set because I was short in length. I also ordered two frames to go with it. Definitely recommend.

We use these to keep people socially-distanced in our lobby. We borrowed some higher-quality ones from a different department, but they needed them back. We ordered these as a replacement. Not the highest-quality item as far as fit and finish, but given what they're for they needn't be premium. They'll do the trick.

What a great product for the price, 2 units per box, the look great and seem well made.

These things are nice. We use them to keep customers out of our workshop at my job. We were constantly having trouble with people wandering where they shouldn't be and getting in our way. These have eliminated most of that now. The height is right and they were easy to assemble. I just wish they were a little longer. The retractable belt is only 6.5 feet long and you can really only pull out 5.5 to 6 feet of it because if you pull it all the way out it will tilt the post by trying to pull itself back in.

Not only was it simple to assemble, but it is sturdy and extends to the length we needed for our use. We needed to stop people from entering a certain area and this works perfectly. The little sign we purchased with it is a good size that sits on the stanchion post for whatever we need to convey.

The Star Foodservice Stanchions are a good option for someone looking to create an inexpensive but nice barrier. They are not as formal as "velvet rope" style stanchion but thinking about them as foodservice use undersells them a bit. The fit and finish on these is nice, albeit not super durable. The retraction on the nylon webbing is strong and pulls taught. The BAD: I bought two sets of these, on the first set I accidently broke it while assembling. You bolt the vertical beam to the weighted base. I over-tightened the nut and pulled the press-in fit piece in the vertical standard out of its place permanently ruining it. I was able to drill through the vertical standard and screw the fitting back in. It works, but now has a slight lean. Lesson learned, do NOT over-tighten while assembling. This leads me to believe that if a child stood on the base and spun on the pole, it would likely break. Long story short, these look nice and are a good deal for the money, do not expect them to be indestructible, and do not over-tighten them while assembling
