WellerPPT5, Double Flat Soldering Tip

I am soldering something every weekend so I use this tip quite a bit.This tip does a great job on a wide variety of wire gauges.The stock tip on my Weller P2C was ok for big jobs but I wanted a finer tip for more delicate projects.I would recommend this tip for anyone who wanted a really good universal tip that handles smaller gauge wires like you find in the RC hobbies.It can certainly deliver enough heat to solder even heavy gauge automotive wiring too!This tip has been a great buy and has lasted a little over two years of consistent use.Pro Tip: Make sure that right after your done soldering you take a moist paper towel and wipe off any excess solder so the tip looks shiny. It will last longer. Do not constantly wipe off tip during use, that will cause the metal tip to wear faster due to rapid temp change back and forth from hot to cold.

Received the wrong tip, got a pencil tip that's 1/32 instead of a double flat tip. Still fits perfectly onto my Weller Portasol and works for what I'm doing.

my tip, the one my iron came with was almost unrecognizable next to a new tip. I almost for got how the porasol with a new tip, some flux, and good solder can do almost anything.You know the specs on this device. As a regular shop iron, it is not. But as a field iron, it can be beat. It's hot enough, controllable enough, with enough heads to handle any job. you do have to remember to point the vent whole away from you and your work but other than that minor point, a beautiful tool.

This tip fits the little butane Weller soldering iron that they sell at the Lowes and Home Depot. If you need a replacement tip for your butane Weller, this is probably what you need.
