Very cool sword-knife for cutting practice
This is a very cool sword-knife, but I’m not sure what it’s really good for in the everyday world. I’m a martial artist, and own several high-end swords, so I couldn’t resist this. I’m guessing if you’re considering buying this, you aren’t buying it for any practical purpose. However, as a tool for cutting practice (e.g. martial arts), I would recommend this. It’s made from D2 steel, which is very standard “knife steel” and isn’t anything special really. D2 holds an edge well, and has a bit more chromium in it, which helps give this knife its movie-like shiny silver hued blade. It comes with a decent leather sheath, which the seller doesn’t show, so I included some pictures. It’s got a full tang, so it will be strong, if you’re going to be cutting real objects with it. The description says “Damascus” but there is really no Damascus pattern to speak of, real or otherwise. There is no visible hamon, real or otherwise. It may or may not be hand made, as claimed, but I don’t see why hand-made matters. The handle is Micarta (the seller has misspelled this in their picture), which is a synthetic resin type material that is strong, durable and lightweight, and commonly used in knife handles. Again, nothing special here as far as knives go.The overall quality is just ok. From a functional perspective, it’s well made – full tang, sharp blade, good sheath, etc. – it’s a sturdy slab of steel. However, from an aesthetic perspective, there are lots of little defects, minor scratches, some pit marks in the cast tsuba, the blood groove is of uneven depth, and the whole thing needs a good cleaning, as it arrived very dirty. If you’re just using this for cutting practice, the blade will get scratched anyway, so you’re probably not too worried about this.Because of its length, it’s very blade-heavy. If you have trained Wing Chun Kung Fu, then you will recognize this has the same feel and balance as a so-called butterfly sword (which is intentionally blade-heavy). Of course, this is longer and lacks the guard, but feels the same, and can be used the same way.The only issue is the price, which is a bit expensive for a knife like this (with lots of blemishes), so I’m subtracting one star for value. It’s very cool, but the applications are limited to niche hobby uses, like martial arts. It’s not like you’re going to be chopping potatoes for dinner with this, so just buy it if you think it looks cool, or you want to get some cutting practice. Overall 4 stars.

That's not a knife... THAT's a knife!
It's funny that the product description calls this a "29.5 inch hunting knife"... did someone forget how to spell "sword"? The main reason I bought it was because I was cleaning out old emails from Amazon and this thing was originally advertised for $249, which I NEVER would have paid for such a novelty item. But when I opened the item NOW, it was $99. So I thought, "Why not?" And for the price, I'm not disappointed. It's Pakistani made, obviously, but the finish is decent and it came with a nice leather sheath rather than the typical nylon. It didn't arrive very sharp but... it's a sword... I'm not going to try to shave with it. From what I read the D2 steel is kind of hard to sharpen but it will supposedly hold a good edge once you get it there. I recommend jumping on one now while they're this cheap.

You call that a knife?
PROSNot sure how this is considered a knife. As a short sword it's pretty cool. Appears to be really well made and sturdy but also pretty light. Two handing the handle is pretty comfortable, and it feels decently balanced. While it probably wouldn't save you in a life or death situation, it probably would make a would-be attacked or intruder have second thoughts.CONSIt's not very sharp. It can be sharpened of course but would be nice to not have to do it. I've gotten kitchen knives off Amazon way sharper than this. The scabbard is not all the great. I would have preferred a real sheath as it would have looked a lot better.OVERALLI wouldn't say this is a toy necessarily but if you are a blade enthusiast this is not for you. If you are looking for something that is not plastic to have some fun with, this is a good option.

More like a sword than a knife
This edged weapon was given the title as a "knife" but it should be considered a short sword as the 29.5 inch blade requires two hands to maintain control and stability. This edged sword is manufactured in Pakistan and the overall quality is at a moderate level of craftmanship. This should not be picked up for anything except for display, I would be somewhat cautious to take this sword out in the field for actual use for protection against the elements or a large wild animal. The blade is heavy and the handle while grooved does not feel balanced when held with two hands. The leather sheath is capable of being attached to your belt or gear but the weight of sword pulls the sheath down causing the user not to be able to move freely while wearing. This is not a tactical knife/sword nor would it be useful other as a last resort type edged item. It is unique but not functional for outdoor use.

No Wobble
It is a good weight. It seems well manufactured with no wobble to the blade. It is unfortunate that the bronze is tarnished as it is a nice looking knife otherwise.

Very nice knife for the cost. would have preferred a hard sheath
This knife came very well packaged, wrapped, and oiled, which was a good thing because it also arrived well sharpened! The grips and the tang are put together very smoothly, and the blade has a good polish. The knife is well balanced when held at the hilt. I don't really have any practical use for a knife this size. However, if I did, I would not hesitate to use this knife because it is relatively economical.

Awesome letter opener
Well, let's just say this is more than a opener. It seems well balanced and very sharp.. looks nice and came oiled.I like it. Not as good as a machete but if I find myself cornered by a rousy bunch of bank collection letters I'd be honored to utilize this in the destruction

More of a sword
This is a large knife with leather scabbard. The quality is decent for a fairly inexpensive weapon. Though the craftsmanship is decent, this doesn't seem to be display model it feels functional. The blade is sharp, full tang through handle. Blade is polished and free from imperfections.
