Building Natural Ponds: Create a Clean, Algae-free Pond without Pumps, Filters, or Chemicals

A very informative book!
The advice is great and the author is very knowledgeable. I’m not sure I’m ready for a natural pond, however. Maybe a container pond would be a good place for me to start. But when I am ready for a natural pond, I have the book that will help me accomplish it!

Jam packed with information
This is a short book, but it's packed with so many great tips, and everything you need to know to get started. Highly recommend reading as you're planning your pond. I wish I would have read this before I started digging, but I got it just in time to avoid a lot of rookie mistakes.

Great step by step guide
I just moved to new property and I really wanted a pond, but I didn't want to run electrical there for a pump. This book really helped me create a natural pond that looks amazing! My pond is about 10' x 25' and 3' deep. We've only had it going for about 2 months and it's already clearing up. I think in another month or two it should be crystal clear. The book is. Great step by step guide from selecting a location all the way to filling with fish and plants.

A Pond That Echoes Nature
In most garden pond books, it doesn't take long before talk of technology, pumps and filters comes into play. This book, however, is different. As occurs in the wild to a nature-created pond, there is no filter, no pump and no technology of any kind, and nature does just fine. This book intends to describe what it takes to recreate what nature does naturally. Quite informative and interesting.

If you have farm or landscape machinery, this is for you.
But I only own a shovel. So I went to Tractor Supply, bought a 30$ black plastic tub and dug a hole. Will line edge the area around the tub and line the areas with plastic to create big areas and a beach of pebbles to make a wildlife beach. Got a pump and outdoor electrical service. Love ponds and find them the least demanding of all gardens I ever had. For almost 25 years my husband and I have made water gardens for wildlife and native plants. Surprised that this book didn't have any reference to bog filters, which serve as "pre-ponds" that have a sub-section for bog plants that filter the re-cycled water is pushed through the plant roots that serve as the pond's filtration system. Never used uv pond stuff or lights in a pond for that does not feel natural, to me. This book did not speak to me, or offer new ideas for me.

You will thank yourself for selecting this book!
Very thorough; would not have added bogs and have a Rain garden planned, if not for this book. Tha author is obviously well versed in this sector of organic and natural ponds. I feel confident that this first venture into a natural pond will be a success, and any deviations to the plan is addressed in the book it is a no fail pathway to natural and organic pond life

A very practical and interesting guide to building natural ponds
This is a great book with lots of well-presented information on the how and why of building natural ponds. it's full of practical instructions and advice, with excellent photos, illustrations, and diagrams. I've read it twice and will be continuing to consult it as I build my own backyard pond for the local frogs and toads this coming spring!

L'autore chiarisca.
