Wow!
Good News! If you have no musical ability and are tone deaf, then this is the instrument for you!Okay, I knew I was buying a cheap instrument. But this one is just awful. It’s impossible to adjust the action where it’s playable beyond the 5th fret. Will not stay in tune either. On a scale of 1 to 10…definitely a 1. So if you have no desire to play anything that resembles music, this is the one for you.Sending back ASAP.

Needs professional setup
The media could not be loaded. The 6 string banjo came labeled with Sonart on the headstock. I was kinda hoping it would be left blank like the pictures in the ad. Took little over a week to be delivered. No sharp frets or anything. Tuning pegs work. Bridge is garbage but it’ll work for now. Would be nice if it came with a paper gauge or something to set the bridge length up. The action on this thing is absolutely horrible. Out of the box so far it plays, feels and sounds like a $150 toy. I’m gonna take it to a music shop next week and get it professionally set up before I cast anymore judgement on it.

Ordered twice, both times had faulty neck
I originally ordered one that was delivered with a hairline crack at the neck and requested a replacement. The replacement was sent with an EVEN BIGGER crack at the same place of the neck. I’m not sure if it’s just shoddy manufacturing but what I assumed initially was just a shipping error appears to be consistent with the product they’re selling.

Decorative Instrument
While inspecting the banjo-guitar, I took the back off to inspect the rim , I notice no metal hardware held the resonator on it was fasten by wood screws. The rim is made of (thinPlywood) About 3/16 it was warped , not a true circle so replacing the remo drum head would be impossible. Being optimistic I thought maybe it will sound cool. A few of the tuning pegs were stripped so I couldn't tune it to play it . I started trying to return it the same day I got it , was told by Amazon you have to wait 48hrs to return, due to Christmas rush , 30days later I was eligible to return it ( without giving any extra time to , return I had 2 days to box , ship, and return this junk, from east coast to west coast) Worst experience with Amazon ever for me. Im gonna have a bond fire and burn the costzan banjo . I have a Jamison banjo, which is playable out of the box, and a Morgan Monroe that is playable beginner banjo. Selling a decorative instrument, as a playable instrument should not be allowed by Amazon !!!

I got what paid for: Slight crack at the base of the neck.
Slight crack on the base of the neck, very high string action. I recommend looking at a different Banjo company.

Very bad.
This instrument looks and feels like it was put together in a big rush, no attention to detail whatsoever, flaws everywhere.Does not keep tune, intonation way off, neck way off and not a lot you can do about fixing it.Looks like the skin was painted white in certain areas to hide imperfections. Crooked head. Just bad all around. Wish it was better.

hi
Cons: wrong strings very difficult to tune without breaking strings, could use a better tailpiece, and machine tuning pegs.Pros: This banjitar has excellent sound and the price is good. I love playing it. I was amazed by the sound quality. The sound is better than Gold Tone, and Dean banitars.Over all this Banitar is worth its price.

A beginner would just give up on playing it. Needed several hours of luthier work to be playable.
I'm going to start this review by pointing out that I have been a guitarist for 35 years and have had a hand in repairing and refinishing them for just as long , but as a banjo player, I would rate myself as a raw beginner. I unpacked the banjo , and immediately started to tune it up , only to discover that NONE of the HARDWARE had been tightened down AT ALL. EVERYTHING was totally loose , including the drum skin, which I realized when the bridge started to press down INTO the drum skin, when tension was applied to the strings. Materials are of relatively good quality , but craftsmanship is average to sloppy. As the pictures will indicate , there are a number of defects with the banjo. The resonator arrived with the top surface's finish damaged at all the mounting points. This is because the resonator mounting plates are only finished on the front side , with the back surface unpolished and sharp at the edges. They didn't even file off the burrs from cutting the metal out. The truss rod cover was screwed down with 2 screws , and the 3rd screw missed the wood completely. The resonator has a fitment issue at the top mount closest to the neck, where the mounting plate is flush with the body at one end , but has a significant gap at the other. Further investigation led me to discover that the reason for this is because the hardware that mounts through the wood of the drum wasn't drilled correctly. Also , mounting the resonator tightly to the banjo causes the resonator to apply undue force against the heel of the neck, which raises the action / string height, rendering the banjo unplayable. I have no problem with refinishing the resonator myself , and sanding down the contour on it until it fits the neck properly. I also think that I can adjust the crooked mounting plate by using some washers between the resonator mount and the hooks that hold the drum skin in place , but I'm concerned the hooks may not be long enough once the washers are installed. The other issue that I have is with the drum skin hook hardware that mounts directly through the wooden drum, some mounts have washers and others don't. I want to have a symmetrical look with all matching hardware , and therefore I'm currently short 10 washers that sit against the wooden drum, behind the drum skin hooks. If the washers were left out because the hardware is too short , that's ok: I can sand the inside of the drum until the hardware is long enough to work as it should. The included accessories were of realively low quality. The strap and string are not of a quality that I would put any trust in to not snap and drop the instrument. The thumb and finger picks are standard fare, the miniature tuner is somewhat flighty in reading pitch, and the battery cover fell off and disappeared the first day I had it. The included soft shell case is essentially like a sheet of black saran wrap, with a zipper. Only really good to keep dust off. I wouldn't trust the shoulder straps on it , another good way to drop the banjo and damage it. I made numerous attempts to contact the seller , but between Amazon limiting the correspondence's attachments to 10mb , and the seller's apparent lack of understanding the nature of the issues at all, I'm thinking that I'll be sourcing my own replacement hardware for the missing washers, although they did offer me a $20 refund, for my inconveniences. Does me no good as far as the hardware is concerned , and I'm too far into it now to return it and order another one , which for all I know, could be even worse. By the way , the packaging that the banjo arrived in was of excellent quality and in near perfect shape. At the end of the day , I bought a $240CAD banjo , and I guess I got what I paid for. I'm sure it will be a pretty playable instrument and will give me years of enjoyment, once I have the frets dressed , the strings, bridge, and drum skin replaced with some higher quality parts , and get everything set up properly. Your mileage may vary.

Banjolette case
I have to say I was not impressed with the cheap case. I don't think it is safe for the instrument.
