Pros and con's
It's not bad. But it's not great. Good front firing 12" value speaker, I suppose. The pros: Good price. Good craftsmanship. The cons: The sound quality is ah little muddy i.e. not very tight. Can't loop through the RCA loop through without getting a hummm. I solved this issue by using an RCA splitter. Which worked fine. Just a little annoyingSummary: If you're looking for a good quality, good value, subwoofer. And you can get your hands on it for under $300(ish)? I would say go for it. It's better than most, in its class

Love it but rough handling during shipping has me worried
so far love it. It kind of smoothed out the bass in a way I really like. I have the DB10 also which I do like. Now its unplugged. The DB12 is about a third bigger and just sounds better. During shipping box was handled roughly and was beat up. Now I wish I had not opened it and returned it because I'm worried about damage. Rough handling has me worried-

Not worth their scrap value
The media could not be loaded. If you think you’ll get decent value for your money look elsewhere. Don’t let the good looks fool you, probably less than a 50% chance you’ll get a subwoofer that actually works as it should. Purchased two of these units during a basement theater build up so they sat in their boxes for a little over a month upstairs. Both units were delivered without issue and packaged very well, I was happy that nothing arrived damaged and visually defect free after unboxing. Once setup and plugged into the wall not one but BOTH units hum with or without being connected to my also brand new Denon X4700H. One is very much more audible than the other. Both left on auto mode after about 15-20 minutes one will get louder and more noticeable and starts to emit a wavering pulsating noise so I disconnected it and just used the other since it wasn’t so much noticeable while I wanted to hear back from Fluance. Tried using different outlets, surge protectors but nothing changes the problem. Less than 24th ours after this the other one develops the exact same issue. I wish I would have plugged everything in before the 30 days was up because if I want to get these fixed with their 2 year warranty I will have to pay out of pocket to ship them back for repairs when one never worked and the other wasn’t far behind either. Doing my own repair research they have both been eliminated from a ground loop issue, any signal issue or other outlet issue. I did find that these units have the exact same amp made by Dayton Audio, and it’s max rating is 250 watts not the claimed 400 watts from Fluance. I know this because I already have that exact same amp on a diy subwoofer at my shop without this issue built by a co worker. A fluke for one to not work or have issues but both? No, plus other peoples lower reviews on this show it’s pretty common to have problems. Even the company doesn’t trust it not failing outside of their 30 day return window. Very upset that I wasted 700 on these two and I encourage you not to waste your hard earned money on them either.

Great home subwoofer at a great price, excellent value!
Excellent home subwoofer. I purchased for about 50/50 music and home theater...and it sounds great. Setup is so simple, plug the subwoofer RCA plug right from your reciever into the LFE input. Inital setup, I was worried because I was having a deep bass "humming" sound that I found out was in my electrical outlet. Once I plugged the subwoofer into a power strip, all the humming stopped. The walnut finish looks very good. I wouldn't say it's "great" looking like a piece of furniture...definitely not a great veneer finish or anything, but for the price, it looks very good.I have watched a few movies and listened to quite alot of music and I can tell you it sounds great. My room is about 20'x15', with hardwood and one area rug. It sounds great. I don't turn the volume over about 1/2 way, if so, I would say that it is probably too much subwoofer in my opinion.... but I'd rather have too much then not enough. I debated between ordering the 10" or 12" version. I ended up with the DB12W.One piece of advice I would give for setup would be use a nice audio CD that has some bass guitar or something. I used a couple different music styles - CDs ranging from Aerosmith to Garth Brooks and I dialed the volume and LFE level in very nice. Trying to setup the adjustments to a DVD I feel you would set all the knobs too high which in turn would shake the house when you switch to music...or any sort of explosion scene on the movie.Overall, I think this is a great product for the price. Great value. Again, I did alot of research and looked at some higher end subwoofers which were over $1,000. And I also considered ordering a lower end Polk or JBL... but in the end, I'm glad I chose this Fluance. I basically read some reviews online, Amazon, YouTube and felt it was a very good product at a very good price.

This subwoofer has an almost perfect bass response that compliments the heaviest metal
This subwoofer has an almost perfect bass response that compliments the heaviest metal, the dankest electronic music or any movie explosion. I pair it with floorstanding speakers that already have great bass response, but the difference when engaged is still impressive. It is also subtle enough to accompany elegant music, like classic or older jazz. It will easily fill a very big living room, as long as your house is not a million dollar mansion, but then again, this is a budgetable speaker.I chose this one above the 10 inch model mainly because of the difference in the amplifier, not the speaker, and yes, the power feels infinite, as it should. One star removed because it was hard to pair with the receiver (had to almost crank the volume in the subwoofer) and because the price could be better, specially after tax.

Choose a subwoofer from a different company
Sub looks and performed awesome for 10 days before complete failure. Getting in touch with Fluance was a chore. I had to ship the defective subwoofer back at my expense and then wait a month for the replacement to show up. I unboxed the new one and much to my amazement--there is no speaker! Just an empty box/enclosure. So now getting in touch with Fluance is very very slow--In the meanwhile I still don't have a subwoofer from them. Unbelievable!!

Unbelievable. Never Ever Again
My items arrives, box is banged up a bit, no issue, everything inside looks great, power it on and have it plugged in and all I got was a rattling sound, upon co tactic shoptronics they want me to ship it back to them and lose out on my express shipping I already paid, no reimbursement whatsoever, and wait for another item. Well I took it to the local repair guy because I opened it up and some wire, coil looking thing was unsprung and allover the place inside the box around the magnet. I'd still like a full refund because the sub driver is non repairable and must be replaced

Excellent quality/price ratio
This is a very good to excellent sub at a very reasonable price. Don't waste your money on big brand names. Fluance makes very good products at reasonable prices. See my review of the DB10, it all applies to the DB12. The DB12 is, however, obviously more powerful i.e. more presence. The review that mentions the amplifier overheating is not an issue with my unit and I drive it hard. The review(s) mentioning damage to their shipped unit is'nt Fluance's fault. These units are solidly built and elegant.

Fluance DB12 Impressed
First of all, Fluance is an amazing company the support is very good the shipping is crazy fast and the price is also very good,This review is for the Db12 the 12 inch one.First impression this subwoofer look very well build its heavy enough the look is amazing, it is made with Polypropylene wich you find thiskind of material with high end quality subwoofer, i'm really impressed with the quality they put into it for a subwoofer in this price range Comperedto my Jbl wich cost double of this Fluance and the B12 is by far way much better...How it Sound: At First it sound little muddy i have to admit, but give it time to break in,as the sound will improve each day and will become alivenow its sound very good not boomy clean clear bass without distordion even at high volume it can sure shake the house. What concern me a little is the amplifier, It get hot! people are usefull in the comment say its normal nothing to be worries about the heat sink doing its job, but if you play loud music its get very hot, wich i never had this problem with the Jbl for example and other brand.... I will just not over push it..on regular use with home theater it works great, but it still bodering me to see on long terms use how this amp will last....If some of you can share his experience on how long you using this sub and if you have had any trouble with it...But at this price point it did not stop me, i just bought another one now having a 9.2 set up and it sound really really good!!If it was not the amplifier making me worries abit i would give it 5 stars all way up. The overall quality is amazing, the sound is very good with 2unit it fill up my home theater room perfectly Fluance give a 2 full years warranty on it.It make me want to try Fluance Speakers like the Signatures one, now having all Polk Rti series not sure if Fluance can be as good..???

Pretty good for the price
After reading all the reviews I come to the conclusion that most people bought this unit for home theatre use to be listened to at ear splitting volumes. For us audiophiles, and I am not talking about Walmart junk, but a well thought out high end sound system, the added bottom end just fills in the low level gaps rather well. Takes a while to get it sounding just right but the rewards are evident after a decent break in. The only nit picking would be the horrible binding posts, which seem like an afterthought. The power cord receptacle is only a two prong affair that does not allow IEC plugs. Oh well, I can work around that.
