I would love to give thus 5 stars but if you look at what I was sent, I received 2 Latin Spices and am missing one of the spices I was buying this for.. Harissa. Because this qualifies as perishable and is non-refundable, I can't send it back. Would love to see if I could instead receive the bottle of Harissa that is missing from this kit.

A little of just about everything, like the crayons you give to a little kid. You understand that I normally get spices in bulk, by the pound, from Amazon, commonly in packages intended for restaurants, often in plastic pouches instead of bottles. This was a Christmas present, for someone I care very deeply about, and whom I want to encourage in a more vegetarian style of cooking. By my standards, your assortment seemed a bit expensive, but that was acceptable under the circumstances. One suggestion I would make would be to add, as a sort of owner’s manual, a copy of Frederick Rosengarten’s classic The Book of Spices, which was originally published by the McCormick company. You would of course have to negotiate reprint permission, at a reasonable price. I got my own copy in a used bookstore years ago, for about fifty cents or a dollar, but that is a rather haphazard mode of supply.

I had cleaned out my spice cabinet that had many, many spices that had been carried from house to house over the years, thus losing their potency. When I went to the grocery store and saw how much new spices cost there, I decided to check Amazon. I found these and almost didn’t order them because of the cost. Even so, they were still cheaper than it would have cost me to replace them from the grocery story. When I opened the box, I was in awe. These are not the “normal” size spice jars. They are big! You are definitely getting your money’s worth! And the variety is unbelievable! If you are starting out or if you, like me, were cleaning out outdated spices to start again, you will be pleased. This collection would make a GREAT gift.
