Attack on Titan: Before the Fall 10

Going into it, I was a bit iffy about this series, but it's grown on me, and I very much enjoying it.With Kuklo still out of the way, after the events in the last volume, roughly the first 2/3 of this volume focuses on Sharle, and does it to good effect; at the end of the last volume, she's been caught again by those who want to keep her in their gilded cage and use her for their own ends, but here they underestimate her just enough to give her an opening for her to do her own adventuring.The last part begins an account of the creation of first versions of the ODM, though this account isn't concluded in this volume.

The party is over and Sharle is back to sulking in her room. Her new suitor makes a call and she thinks this is a chance to look up the owner of a special blade. A blade made the mysterious Angel.The plan goes bad as she learns her suitor is not so harmless. Sharle knows how to fight a little and escapes. She makes her way to the MPs and Captain Bernhart. Sharle later finds the owner of the blade and learns of the whereabouts of Angel. The bigger problem? He now lives in the underground cesspool known as the Stohess district. The soldier tries to talk Sharle out of going as it's not a place for a proper young lady. He deduces she will go no matter what so he gives her a name and advises her to hide the fact she is a girl. The person she needs to find; works in a brothel. Poor Sharle :DShe eventually meets Angel and he is not what she expected. It goes badly and she tries to make it right and mistakenly runs after him without her disguise. She is cornered by lowlifes but is saved by the "worker" and some muscle. Later, she explains more of why she must find Angel and stuns the people by explaining what he did and she knows Jorge the Hero. Impressed by her story; she quickly makes a friend of the leader of the muscle. He agrees to take her to Angel's shack.We find Angel as we would have wanted him introduced; working on a blade. He tests Sharle. Her work is not that great however he technique was correct and expected for a proper apprentice. They talk about Xenophon and the grouchy Angel actually smiles.We get the background story of Xenophon and Angel.The side story is about how Sharle learned to fight. It's funny.On to the next one!
