Math in Focus: Singapore Math Grade 5: B Hardcover – Student Edition, May 20, 2009

This is a good resource. It was delivered well as promised.

Challenging material presented in an easy to understand format. The only downside is the cost of the teacher manual. The only source for answers is the teacher edition which is disappointing. The teacher guide can be useful but not necessarily mandatory.

I like how I can review the chapters. I only used this for like a month and I love it. This helps for people who need help in math like me.

My only complaint with Math in Focus is that there often isn't a lot of explanation in the books. Lots of colorful pictures, great examples, etc., but not a lot of words. I understand that this probably works best for a lot of kids, but for my oldest son it was difficult to follow and the graphics were distracting.

I'm in 6th grade right now trying to keep my grades up in Math in Focus 6th grade. And last year was horrible to. The books and test include tons of mistakes. Like, 20+ 4= 27! I was actually very good at math when our school didn't do this but now i struggle with low and high B's and I'm an A student!I say not to use this book for educating kids because.. well lets face it.. it sucks. There is the answers in the back! The teaching method makes no sense. And there is a ton of more stuff i can say about these books.It takes a good solid week until i even know how to do the first step. Please... if you really love and care about your kids ( or students) don't use this book! Ps.American Math is way better!
