What temperature does the heat tape turn on at? can it be laid in pvc gutters only as the system has heat to the roof edge.

This heat cable is 'on' while plugged in. There are thermostatic outlets (ThermoCube) that can be used to turn our cable on at 35 degrees and off at 50 degrees. Many of our customers buy those. Our cable will NOT MELT or damage PVC gutters. You will need to install the cable in a standard serpentine, or zig-zag pattern to get ice dam prevention. Heating gutters alone will not reduce the likelihood or severity of ice dams in any way.

Is heat output even along the entire length of tape used, even the longest lengths?

Yes, the heat output is even across the entire length of heat tape. The quality of the cable is top of the industry with 16 AWG wires conducting the heat across the entire length of the heated portion of the cable. The self-regulation will not interfere with performance when it comes to heat distribution either, in fact, it improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the cable. This cable has been tested and has passed as ETL listed.

Can this be used under a metal ice belt place at base of roof. ice belt is 20 inches wide.?

We would need the exact specifications for the "metal belt" that you are referring to. Perhaps you are referring to an aluminum extrusion covered by a sheet metal cladding? If so, please forward the specifications to us.

In one place it states a 10 year warranty and in another it states a 5 year - which is correct? Thanks!

I don't get it.....if its a 5 year warranty only why does it say 10 year warranty in multiple places ? What am I missing here ?
