Review: The cooling really works. - I have to say the claim of sleeping cooler with this bed is true. I love the memory foam mattresses but have found that the cooling gel claim is just a gimmick. In fact in doing my research I came across that recurring theme. It was just the same old memory foam and it gets hot. My last mattress had cooling gel in the foam and I had sweaty nights most every night. If I got up to go to the bathroom when I would come back I would find sweaty sheets. This bed does not do that. I live in Florida and we don't keep it particularly cook in our bedroom. There must actually be something to the copper. Also, it made a big difference in my sore back in the mornings. That may just be the new bed aspect but so far so good. Only slept on it a couple of weeks to be fair. I read that it comes with the soft side up and assumed I would have to flip it since we wanted a firm bed. This was not the case at all. The side it came with it pretty firm. I love the way it feels. The flipping was another plus for me. I have found that memory foam seems to break down a year or two in and gets too soft. If this happens with this mattress you have a whole other side to flip to and hopefully get more time out of your mattress. 5-8-18 Updating my review. I'm sleeping at a neighbors house while I have the floors redone and it really strikes me how much I miss my copper mattress. I love the feel of memory foam but I love the cooling even more. I still have not flipped it because so far the soft side is staying pretty firm. I see that Layla has a pillow now and I want one. I just hate to pay $100 for a pillow. Maybe they will offer a discount soon. Review: The second you saw the title of this product you should have stopped considering it. - Unlike most of these reviews, this review comes from 6-8 months of ownership, so trust me when I say the below. First off, copper infused cooling system for a mattress? There's a reason why you've never heard of it before.. it's a gimmick. For an idea of my size, I'm pretty average: 5'9" at 175 pounds. This mattress has two sides: firm / soft. The soft side is quite true to the name, place one knee down on this mattress and you'll sink down through it and bump into the hard wooden slats / your metal bed frame. Ouch? Lay flat across it, however, and you'll feel like you're on a cloud for all of about 30 minutes before you start to realize there is absolutely zero support and your neck is craning up to your pillow at an unhealthy angle. Alright, so fine, flip the thing and do the firm side, right? Sure, this works at first. It's firm, it holds you with just the right sink, but then lo and behold, about an hour later you're realizing it's a lot less firm than it was and you're uncomfortable again. Where I never had back pain before, I've developed lower/upper back pain that only subsides when it's time for bed again and then it starts all over again in a never-ending cycle. Finally stopped by a mattress shop, got a traditional brand name mattress and know I'll be good for at least 10 years. These bed-in-a-box mattresses try and cheat the system, but I'd say a small percentage of people fully enjoy them and a large percent of people are actually messing up their backs without realizing it. That's the danger in jumping on the bandwagon of what is a very new product concept. Also, this is way too expensive for what's probably a $50-to-manufacture product. There's no coils, there's no structure, there's not EVEN a company name that any of us know... It's a big piece of foam. That's it.

HOLY CRAP - this is what a good bed feels like!
I have issues with both of my shoulders, and otherwise used to like a more medium-firm mattress. Nowadays, I like soft. But I sleep SUPER hot (have my entire life.) I started with a Nectar mattress, and it was too hard and too HOT. Then they sent me a gel-infused memory foam mattress topper. The softness improved, but I continued to wake up sweating. I was thinking, am I seriously going through menopause at 45?? Could be? Then I got this mattress. I sleep like a baby and my shoulders don't hurt AT ALL. Plus, I haven't woken up sweating even one time. Not ONCE! And it was 80 degrees in my apartment the other day because the valves on the radiator heat aren't sealing up! I cannot say enough great things about this mattress. You sleep cool and soft (without sinking in, as others have mentioned.) Obviously we all have different preferences for our mattresses... but if you have any shoulder pain and sleep hot, then this is your mattress. I'm getting better deep sleep (tracked with an Oura ring,) then I have since I started tracking my sleep! Thank you, Layla, for giving me my sleep back and taking away the fear of early menopause!

First Night Was HELL!
This may change, let's see. Last night was night number one. It was a night of HELL! I laid on the soft side. My body ached from head to toe. I had pain in places, I've never had pain, lying in any bed. Even my Pug couldn't get comfortable. Now, to be fair I am 230 pounds and 5'10". My previous bed was memory foam though much denser and more firm. This mattress feels cheap and flimsy like an air mattress. The reason I tried this was because if was apparently high rated for side sleepers and I had done much research. My previous mattress was causing intense back pain and numbness in my hands. Tonight I will flip the mattress to the firmer side and try that. Stay tuned.... Night Two: I flipped the mattress to the more firm side. I woke up with intense lower back pain and my arms, hands and fingers were numb just like my previous mattress. This has got to go!

Comfortable
This mattress is so soft and comfortable. My only complaint is the sides are too soft.

Great mattress
We went from an extra firm, 7 year old box spring mattress to this mattress. Extra firm worked for me years ago but now that I have arthritis I woke up every morning stiff and sore. It's only been 5 days with the new Layla mattress, but it is heavenly. We are using the "soft"side. There is no detectable movement when my husband moves around during the night. I can even sleep on my back again as the support is much better. I usually sleep hot but this mattress does not contribute to that at all or make it worse. I know it's only been 5 days, and the manufacturer says there is a break-in period. but I am loving this mattress. Plus it was a ton of fun opening it and watching the magic as it puffed up to it's normal size.

Good bed, but......
Was pretty surprised that it was this comfortable. I'm a total side sleeper and always had a sore hip from other beds and was always waking up several time a night on all the others I had. This one here I can sleep all night on my side with no or just a little pressure sensation on my hip but never wake up feeling my hip is killing me at all. But the bed does seem a little on the thin side, instead of there three inches of memory foam they really needed 5 inches instead I belive it would have made for a better feel for all espesially if your on the heavier side. I'm 245 and seems like it's a bit thin. Not sure if I'm going to keep it or not just because it seems to thin needs thicker memory foam. If your a lighter person and you like soft sink in beads you'll like it for sure. Also its probibly a little over priced for what it is I would say it's a $550 dollar mattress.

Back pain be GONE!
Love it! I was miserable sleeping in my old bed (7 yr old Tempurpedic). It had gotten soft over time and I was experiencing horrible back pain and would wake up multiple times at night because of it. I did a ton of research online and in mattress stores to figure out what was best for me as a side/stomach sleeper. I was SO nervous about buying a mattress online and LOVED the fact that Layla has two firmness options! I started with the firm side and my back pain disappeared within two nights of sleeping of sleeping on it. This mattress so COMFORTABLE, I sleep more soundly and turn much less. Delivery was great, no damage and the FedEx delivery man even brought it inside for me. Set up was a breeze! I’ve seen a few reviews that stated the mattress is hard to flip and cover difficult to put on without another set of hands. I’m 5 foot 5 inches and I flipped it and put the cover on by myself just fine. There is a minor packaging odor that goes away within a few days. Overall I’m very happy with this purchase!
