Good sturdy lock with some quirks
Intro: Overall I like this product and it looks nice compared to some other options - less of an electric lock look at first glance but still isn't as inconspicuous as some other options available. There are some quirks that make using it sometimes frustrating until you learn to deal with it. Here's the breakdown.Install 5/5:Overall this was very easy to install and with minimal modifications and no additional drill holes to my door or jamb to install parts. I was able to remove my old lock and the parts included fit and worked out of the box. I did have to carve out a little more room in the wood in the jamb to free up space around the deadbolt. It did turn and go in initially, but felt a little tight and I guess too tight for the electric motor because it was unable to bolt itself. After using a drill to carve a little more space in the jamb it worked just fine. This is pretty normal for any lock or door knob if you've done this before - doors are finicky and every little millimeter tends to cause issues but this was issue was easy to identify and correct so no gripes here.Fingerprint reader 3/5:It mostly works. I've never had it work the first touch - it's like to you have to press your finger once to "wake-up" the lock and then again to actually have it read your finger. I've also found that if I have any dust, sweat, or anything on my finger it gives me the red error circle, so it's pretty sensitive to anything that might degrade it's reading on your print. Not at all like the reliable iPhone unlock experience. That said, if my fingers are clean and I remember to double touch, it works pretty much every time.Code Input 4/5:This is also a little confusing. I think you have to touch to wake it up and once the numbers are illuminated then it will work. But the two symbols below it aren't super intuitive to me - X over a lock? Is that not locked or unlock? What does "check-house" mean? I'm good to enter or it's not locked and safe? If anything it should be an unlocked padlock symbol and a locked one. The new Schlage locks are like this too now, but the older one I had was just digits and a single enter button, same with my garage door keypad, so there was no confusion over which you hit at the end of entering you code. Should be just "Code-Enter" and it either locks or unlocks based on it's current state. Not "wake-code-decide which is the correct button-hit the wrong one get an error-repeat-hit correct button" type of a situation. That said the finger print works well enough where I just use that and not the code entry.App 5/5 :Pretty standard stuff for home security stuff these days. Works, I can see the status of the lock and who came when and all the events and stuff. Locks or unlocks immediately after hitting the command in my app. Don't really know when I'll use this yet but it's good it's there.Autolock feature 5/5 (previously rated 4/5, see update below):I really like this because I don't have to think twice about my door being locked. It loses a star because it has no idea if the door is open or closed, so if you take too long unloading groceries and the door locks while it's open and somebody decides to slam it shut you just whacked the deadbolt into your door frame. Don't really love that - especially with kids who like to carelessly slam things. Also my dog would bark every time the chime would go off during autolock, but you can turn that off. Nice touch.Update 6/9/2023: turns out there is a feature in the settings of the app called “Lock Calibration” that is intended to correct the error I was experiencing above. It asks you to close the door, confirm that it is closed in the app, then it calibrates. Now when I open my door, the autolock timer doesn’t actually start until my door is closed. Nice!Key 5/5:I don't use the key at all - but it's concealed really nicely under a magnetic disc and looks slick. It's also not a standard shape or turn action, so I assume that makes it harder to pick. It's supposedly rated highly to resist entry via drilling the key hole, and seeing it in person I can see why it might be better than a standard lock. But you know that the people who want to figure these things out will figure it out, so either way not a huge concern on that front, just glad it's maybe a little harder.Alexa integration 3/5:Yes it integrates and it works and it's pretty instant in locking after your command. HOWEVER. After you ask Alexa to lock or unlock, it will ask for the pin, then you say the pin, then it completes the command. This is inconvenient enough for me not to use the feature. I get it, there are security issues. Someone could just yell in your window at Alexa to unlock the door and it would without a code. But this inconvenience just amplifies how convenience the other options are like the app. But hey, maybe you are cooking and your hands are dirty and your family is at the door? There are use cases for it.Battery 5/5:Seems like it's lasting a long time and it's easy to access the battery so no frets here.Wish list:I wanted a lock that would utilize Apples NFC keychain, so I could just tap my watch or phone to the lock and it would work. I thought well I never leave the house without my finger but the double tap issue mentioned above is kinda annoying. I don't know if the keychain locks are any more reliable but would be a nice addition.Summary:Overall a solid quality lock that I have no worries about someone breaking. Looks are overall attractive, but the quirks seriously dig into the convenience and user experience to the point of wanting an older punch code style lock that works every time. The variety of ways to unlock is nice, but half of them have quirks that make them too frustrating to use as a primary method.

Works great have one gor a full year, bought second
Overall great, totally love! Stores fingerprints locally (not on the cloud) and once setup, will work even during an internet outage! (app on cell can't communicate with lock while WiFi is down), but lock is fine (tested this specifically for a friend). When you line up finger properly, recognition is virtually instant (1/50) of a second... I write date on battery, every time I charge it, lasts 2 months for me... Crazy key blank, you will never find it locally, or get it cut (but you never ever need). They (Eufy) send 5 key blanks with lock. But I never take keys (other than the single car key for the car I drive). It also does a number code, (I never use, fingerprint part is top notch). Bought second one "used" from amazon (sold by Eufy/Anker). Was new, maybe an unused return? Everything was perfect, I opened a new one, this was identical. Anker great company (first bought cell batteries years ago) great product, superb app. (I do not bother integrating it with Alexa but read it does). Totally recommend this device! Two suggestions, turn of chime (it makes a chime noise on every lock/unlock event) if you want (from App). Turn on autolock ()great feature it locks after a minute or two (adjustable) if you do not turn around and "lock" it outside. I almost never turn around and "lock" it, the Autolock feature is SUPERB. House is NEVER unlocked. I now NEVER EVER get locked out, as I just touch a finger and poof it opens!Extras: When battery is low, it will say (in female voice) "Battery is low, please charge" when charging, lift UP (towards ceiling) on lock inside (top half), pull battery OUT of lock (remove totally, pull away from door) and any Micro USB cable (plug it right into battery, takes 4-6 hours to charge, red light when charging, turns blue when done). Charge lasts for two months. Nothing to find/get. Plug it in via an old (android) cell charger (standard micro USB) or you could unplug an Amazon FireTVstick and use that cable (same connector), or that kind of cable on a PC, Chromebook or Mac's USB port. If door is not closed, it announces "door is jammed". If door is left open (say bringing in groceries or furniture) is simply extends deadbolt after 3 minutes. Close deadbolt when done and close door and either it will autolock or you can flip lever. App keep meticulous notes on every event. You add users in app (must have smartphone and WiFi) and you initially add fingerprints using app (they are stored on device, you use app to guide you not a fingerprint sensor on cell). Very very slick, love it! Used to have to leave house with keys everytime (or leave door unlocked, say doing yardwork. Now never! single key for car if using car...P.S. first one was black, numbers OK to read on my porch (Specially at night) second one was silver, numbers almost impossible to read in daytime. I use fingerprint 99.999% of the time, so don't care about numbers. Silver better if lock sits in sun, black heats up in sun faster.

Fingerprint sensor stopped working
Had lock about 2 years and suddenly fingerprint sensor went dead. Tried using keypad and had to keep touching keypad to wake up to put code in. Has worked great until with garden any issues. Out of warranty so will give Eufy one more try and purchased another lock. Lock should last more than 2 years. Customer service was not helpful. Tried all troubleshooting steps. A smart lock isn't any good if you have to use your key!!

App and device not in sync - but support was superb.
March 14, 2024 update:Changed to 5 stars because of the superb support from Eufy. After a few request to troubleshoot, Eufy sent me a replacement with a prepaid label to send back the defective part. Since installation of the replacement lock, everything worked as expected.(Original review text below)Eufy product is generally good. I have a lot of cameras around my house and inside my house. Plus two doorbell cameras. All are great. I love them all. Just this lock. It does not give me the confident whether it is locked or unlocked. Obviously when I am away from the device, I cannot see. But when I am home, every day, I see same out-of-sync (as in the picture). This is the very first time ever I need to contact Eufy support and so far, they're giving me the run around. They're asking me I should restart my device when I see this happening. The primary concern is when I am away, I have no idea if the device is locked or unlocked. Support as me for things like make sure my phone is on the network (well, I can see my live Eufy camera feed), they ask me to make sure the app is up to date, etc.Two stars for now because Eufy support responded and this issue is still open. I hope to add more star as support can help guide me to get this issue resolve.
