Victorian Romance - The Memory's Wake Coloring Book (Memory's Wake Trilogy - Illustrated Young Adult Fantasy)

I so love Selina Fenech's art work. Her coloring books are so magically drawn, then when brought to life with colors OMG her work is amazing. I will keep collecting her books.

I have several of Selina Fenech’s coloring books, but I think one is my favorite. The pages are not as thick as I would like, but this book the print ink does not smear like some of the books do, when you blend the colors together. I enjoy the story line that goes with it, which has made it fun. Would recommend for those that like to color.

The media could not be loaded.  I really like Selina Fenech's artwork and am absolutely thrilled with her take on Victorian Romance. It appears that the artwork is inspired by her series of novels called “The Memory's Wake”. I just picked up the first volume of the series and will enjoy reading it as I color in this coloring book.The designs, which are detailed and have some intricate and small areas to color, follow in a story format with the brief story excerpt or summary printed on the facing page. Thus, the designs are printed on the front of the page and there is a continuing story printed on the back of the page. If you use bleed-through media (see below), it will disfigure the story but it should remain readable.The figures in the designs are beautiful and the settings are quite lush. It definitely evokes the look and feel of Victorian Romance novels that I have in my mind.This is what I discovered while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper:25 x 2 each (total of 50 pages) beautiful line drawing designs based on Victorian Romance by Selina FenechPrinted one side of the pagePaper is typical inexpensive quality used by CreateSpace: white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not extend into the binding area. The designs have double framing lines at the outer edgesGlue BindingAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work well with this paper. I found that I could layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. I tested both oil and wax based pencils. I also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.I like to use a blotter when working in the book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.

Yes if you want to order it don’t think twice the quality the image you will love it I have a daughter that loves art and she loves it out of the whole set

Subject Matter: 4/5Some aren't exactly "victorian" but all beautiful, no less than what you expect from Ms. Fenech. I own a few of her coloring books and see this one is a bit different, often has multiple characters in each scene. (Have not read Memory's wake)Paper/Binding: 3.5/5Average paper for these type of coloring books. Images are printed one-side only, and that is a huge plus for me, as I use alcohol based markers.Coloring Medium: 3.5/5Again, as I stated above paper is not very thick - markers bleed through sometimes, and if you try to color small narrow areas with markers you will get some feathering. Gel pens and colored pencils are fine.Total: 4/5, Still wish the paper was a bit thicker though.Not more, not less from what I expected. The reason I wrote this review is that if you are her fan you will like it. By no means it is 'pornographic' like that one bad review. I just wish paper was a bit thicker but Ms. Fenech's books almost always come with 2 sets of design, a feat no one else does you really can't complain.

I love the artwork in this coloring book! I truly adore Selena Frenchs’ style and vivid attention to detail!This is a must have for your fantasy coloring collection!Cons: I like to color my pages outside of the book, and it’s not easy detaching these pages. However, I use an exacto knife and don’t mind getting them out that way.

5/5 for image quality, I absolutely love the art, and the artists work is always stunning!3/5 for paper quality, in the last colouring book I’ve purchased “GOTHIC DARK FANTASY” from Selina Fenech, had thicker paper. Therefore I thought this was how all books would be, but this paper was almost as thin as printer paper. It is not as lovely quality and I’m very scared to use my alcohol markers on them in case of ruining the picture.So overall I rate this book, 4/5 with its beautiful art, but lack luster paper quality.

Beautiful drawings and pictures, even the texture of the paper is great for all pencils and gel pens and markers. The pictures are filled up on the pages and the drawing have a lot of detail. The only thing I dislike is that the pages are repeated. I notice that a lot of coloring books have done this. I don't think its fair to the consumer after spending so much money for a coloring book.

I quite like most of the Selina Fenech art work but disappointed with the paper. Stark white and quite thin paper...I use professional quality colouring pencils and this paper does not show them to their best effect in my opinion. Would be lovely if instead of duplicating the pictures, which is what happens with these books, why not do one copy of each but on better graded paper. Would be much more enjoyable to actually colour ...as it stands, I do not look forward to colouring these otherwise beautiful illustrations. Could be a whole different quality book and nicer experience with higher graded paper.

Beautiful as always, Seeing Fenech always delivers, beautiful pictures, double set as usual, so u can share or just colour them differently. Beautiful drawings to follow on the story of, memories wake. A novel written by selling Fenech. The colouring book has made me want to read the book now..

There is absolutely nothing that I could find fault with in this colouring book, excellent pictures as usual.

I prefer Selina's fairy books, but this is still a nice colouring book.
