MSR Dromedary Bag Water Reservoir

Outstanding piece of gear I’ve had mine since 2022!!!!! I fell 30 feet from a helicopter landed on the dromedary and the bladder didn’t pop, the only break was the hydration tube systems cap and my pelvic/tail bone.

It’s durable and sturdy, but the string holding the lid on did break rather easier. The first time I took it out backpacking, actually. However, it’s still 100% functional, I just have to be careful not to lose the lid. The water does acquire a strange taste if it sits all night in the bag, kind of like a soapy or plastic taste - can’t quite pinpoint it. However, I could be cleaning it wrong? Not really sure there, but it’s not a huge day since I mostly use it for day trips. Over all, it’s a great water bladder and is super compact.

Great product. I bought mine because it was endorsed by G. Thumb. I intended to use this as a camelback bladder, but after attempting to use as such in a London Bridge pack, it just didn't feel right. What I did was pulled it out of the pack, and use it as a stand alone item. I ditched the drinking tube. I prefer drinking out of the flip up straw that comes on the standard lid. There is no nasty taste as per some of the reviews. I guess some folks are just sensitive. I left this in my hot truck, and no issues with taste. Again, great as a stand alone item, can be thrown into a pack and used as you would a water bottle. Tough enough to take being rough handled. Great piece of gear!!

I’ve used and abused this bladder. It’s wonderful. To the manufacturer though, the tie that secures the small cap is a nuisance. I had to break mine away because of the aggravation it caused. Problem is then I almost lost my cap down the River. I hope you can attach a small swivel or a thicker cord do it doesn’t keep getting caught in the threads. But, like I said. I am very satisfied with it.

I have purchased and acquired a lot of gear through my time in the US Marine Corps, specifically for training operations and deployments. This is by far one of my top purchases / acquisitions I made. Among the things I have noted about the MSR Dromedary, these are the biggest strengths. Durability- By far the biggest selling point for me. The Camelbak bladders I used to use had no reinforcement, and would pop under a little bit of weight. That is a major issue when you consider the bladder is in a rucksack packed for an operation. The Dromedary, on the other hand, is reinforced and is near impossible to pop (from my experience). Capacity- The Dromedary has a variety of sizes, I have the 4L. That gave me 33 percent more water than my old water bladder while still fitting into my bladder pouch on my pack (although it is a tight fit when full). Water Flow & Leakage- I not noted any leakage aside from minor leaking at times if I do not tighten the screw cap on all the way. Water flow from the hose (from the conversion kit) is perfect. I haven't had issues with it getting kinked or knotted much, which would reduce or stop water flow. Straps- The Dromedary has heavy duty straps that outline its edges, which I have used to be able to secure it into packs and pouches in multiple fashions. Overall, this is one of my favorite purchases I have made as far as my gear goes. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a water bladder with a little extra durability.

Experienced 6 day power outage where we had to tote water. Pulled this out of the camping supplies and used it daily. We only used for clean water to always have drinking water on hand. It isn't often you can field test in your own home under camp conditions. The little lanyard for the small cap is a pain to use(but we never needed to open the small cap) We used the flip spout and just waited for our water bottles to fill slowly We discovered the big cap seals well and you shouldn't over tighten as it was difficult to get loose again because the design makes it difficult to get a really good purchase on the cap. It was easy to fill and carry with the handle at the cap. The ties/straps are durable and worked to hang bag. It was dropped from the counter several times at different levels of full without damage. I will confidently haul this to the Boundary Waters for my water supplies.

I bought this on a recommendation from a friend and this is a home run. I use this when I know I’m going to be super active and have little or no access to water. 4 liters is plenty for most people. The only drawback is it doesn’t come with a bladder hose, you have to buy that separately. And your water doesn’t taste funny like when you use some other water reservoirs.

I have been using these for years. They are not super lightweight so I don't think they are the best for back packing. But they are pretty lightweight and are super durable. I have used them for off-roading and camping for years. You can throw them in the back of your vehicle, and around the campground, and they will be fine.

As a combat veteran, who has tried many water bladders, I can honestly say that MSR is the best. Their cordura bags are the strongest I have seen, and they have the best features with their caps. I usually still carry a canteen, with cup, for camping, so I just use my dromedary to hang up and wash hands or refill my canteen. Great product!

Durante i miei giri in moto a volte mi piace cucinare sulla strada, questa sacca mi permette di avere una riserva sufficiente per cucinare e lavare piatti e stoviglie. Il tappo ha tre modalita di apertura, rimosso completamente per il riempimento o svuotamento, apertura intermedia un flusso molto abbondante, e l'apertura piu piccola che fa da rubinetto con un getto piccolo che permette di risparmiare acqua al massimo. Ottime le cinghie di trasporto integrate che permettono un facile trasporto a spalla o di legarlo alla moto ma anche di appenderlo da qualche parte e creare un vero e proprio punto acqua con tanto di rubinetto. Consigliatissimo!
