Q: I have vinyl windows. How do I know what thickness to use? 1/16" or 1/8" or does it matter?

I would say that the thickness depends on how smooth the two surfaces are. If very irregular then thicker would help to fill the voids. I used 1/8 thick to install windows in a pickup topper but 1/16 would have worked as well since the fiberglass of the topper is a smooth surface. It compresses well so I figured better to go a bit thicker than too thin. If you are mounting glass (smooth) to a vinyl window frame (smooth) then 1/16 would be more than enough I would think.

Q: is this what i need when i replace the fixed glass section on a single hung window? it's a Kinro 9750 Vinyl single Hung

I used this tape to "re-attach" glass panels on an antique apothecary cabinet's doors. It worked fine for that project but I don't think that it would be a sufficient repair for a window that would experience heat/cold. moisture, etc. I'd contact the company and ask them. I hope this helps.
