If your motorcycle helmet has straps similar to a bicycle helmet, then yes, these will help lower wind-noise.

Q: How can I use these without a helmet?

I don't know that you can. Their intent is to be used on a helmet to block the wind which then cuts down on noise.

Q: Any recommendations as to a classic, xl, slim, etc? i ride road bikes and have a kask helmet.

The Classic is our most effective product and reduces the most wind noise. The AirStreamz and AirStreamz XL are a close second. I hand clean mine with liquid hand soap and water. I let them dry over night and they’re ready in the morning
